Voodoo5 + Voodoo2 in SLI?
14.08.13 at 18:21:54

so i bought a Voodoo5 5500 AGP on Ebay, for a fair price i think (70$ + shipping). I've been wondering...i did tried to make some old Glide games run on a Voodoo3 and it didn't seem to work. So i wonder will a Voodoo5 + 2x Voodoo2 in SLI setup work? or there will be drivers conflicts?

It won't work out of the box, there will be some glide files that will conflict between them. You can get the configuration to work, but I don't see any reason to do so.

If you have a V5 there's no need to want a V2 too. There's some very old games that require V1 or V2, but almost all of them work in DOS and no drivers are required.

yeah...well, i would just use another PC for those games i guess. i have a P200MMX with a V2 8mb, a P3 450 with 2x V2 12mb SLI, this P3 800 with a V3 3000, and maybe putting my V1 in this P166MMX soon.

though with a Pentium 3 450Mhz, a Voodoo5 in there would be a waste, i would put it in a P3 800+ instead.

been a while since i ran  a v5 5500 but it seems most of hte incompatabilities in glide games with the v5 could be resolved by running it in single mode..

if you want dos comptability, it should work as long as ou put the voodoo2 glide library in the game folder. (i had a hard time getting good support for dos games with my v5 of any kind)

for Glide DOS games, i would use my P166MMX+V1, or my P200MMX+V2-8mb.
