osckhar mi amigo, i think you will be very "BASTARDO!!! >:(" when you see this;
(hi-res: http://denisf.com/voodoo4mx4500hi.jpg ) Mine's an early nvidia reference beta design, but they sure as hell look similar //EDIT// Some google research revealed very few gf2mx that used those gigantic eeproms, and those were even earlier designs than mine. I think that's a TNT2 or a GF256 SDR.. hm.. |

Ok, but it has a notch like AGP4x... Then it has to be or V4 or... (TNT2)... :( Regards, Oscar |

I must to speak with the seller. There are too much mistakes... Is possible that Nvidia used fan with the 3Dfx Logo for to built for Nvidia Cards...

Actually, on that one the sticker was changed.
Take a look at the pic of my gf2mx and the pic of that voodoo4mx, the fans are different. 3dfx used 3pin fans, nvidia used 2pin upto the geforce4 i think. and the heatsink on that v4, matches the one on my gf2mx perfectly. the only thing different is the sticker. EDIT Don't you just love photoshop? It's very clear that it's a fake card. note the marked area and the distance on the sticker. [both highlighted] mate, i think you have some asses to kick |

Title: Re: What do you think... Post by DenisF on 05.07.04 at 14:53:21
It was scratched from another fan, notice the white edges.

Don't be quick to scream fraud- There is two sides to every story. The guy might have simply picked up the card that way and never tested it. Swapping a fan is a matter of 4 screws, and taking one off a bad card and installing it on a card that the oem fan burned out happens. Heck I did it with a GF2MX that conked out. Just because we can i.d. a 3dfx card from 10 miles away from pcb numbers doesn't mean joe blow public can, he can't tell a PC from a Mac ;-) |

Wise words :)
Indeed there are so many (legitimate) EBay Sellers that just don't know exactly what they're selling. We all have seen 64MB Voodoo2's, NVidia Voodoo3 or (insert desired Brand here) 3dfx Cards that actually turned out to be (not the Brand you expected) 3dfx Cards ;) I think it's the responsibility of the experienced buyer (especially here, where some people could begin to give individual Resistors or PCI Registers personal Names) to make a sound decision before jumping the gun. Personally, I never faulted any seller if it was clear that he made a small mistake. And after all, most (scamming) people would probably rather try to sell a "Voodoo" as a "GeForce", than the way around to make more money, right ? ;) |
Title: Re: What do you think... Post by DenisF on 06.07.04 at 00:20:46
I have a different theory.
The guy has a TNT at home, and a V4. He figured there's no idiot that would buy his TNT.. but the 3dfx fanbase is pretty large. *Whoop-de-poo* goes the guy and changes fan stickers, adds a v4 manual to the picture, and viola! he got 13 euros for it. EDIT more evidence for my theory; Quote:
Doesn't seem like "innocent joe", now does it? ::) Seriously guys, open your eyes for cryin' out loud |

Serves you right. |

Please, it was $15 and your taking me a tad to literally. If the card did turn out to be something rare then it would have been a steal. More often then not sellers can't tell one video card from the next nor do they really care. Most of the time the sellers make good on it, has always been the case for me but then again you do run into dirtbags who won't lift a finger once they get you cash. I would have asked the seller for some pcb numbers or logo silkscreen. Speaking of which I just sent cash to 2 ebay sellers in Germany, I lucked out and they were both honest and I now have 2 more Voodoo II's (Miro and Voodoomania) for my collection. |

I second this.
I also sent cash to a German seller for a fully retail boxed VoodooMania and it arrived yesterday. It's also in great nick and I love it! :) I also sent cash to some Italian woman for a fully retail boxed VoodooMania II last week. She mailed me to say she recieved the payment, but still no sign of the card yet. She has also run into some trouble with ebay locking her user account and other goings on? A possible tie-in with the mob? ;) ;D Plus, if you think about it, regarding that photo of the fake "v4", look how long the fan cable wiring is, and look where the the fan power connector is located on the card. Why would the fan cables be produced that long if the connector sits about 1.5cm away from the fan cabling? ::) |
