Title: Tactical Ops, how do i make good screenshots? Post by Obi-Wan_Kenobi on 16.09.05 at 02:50:39
Hello everyone :)
This week I have been testing Tactical Ops: Assult On Terror Ver 3.4.0 Final on my 5500 AGP and PCI system setups: "Firefox" Dual AMD K8 Opteron DP SledgeHammer 244 S940 @ 2x 1800Mhz, 1MB L2, 800Mhz FSB ::) MSI MS-9130 K8T Master2-FAR, VIA K8T800 chipset 1x Corsair TWINX 2x 512MB PC-3200LLPT ECC Reg ASUS ATI Radeon X800 XT Platinum Edition. AGP8X. 256MB GDDR3. VGA. DVI. ViVO + ASUS Webcam 8) 3dfx Voodoo5 5500 PCI 64Mb Rev.A1 2900 :P Creative Labs Sound Blaster Audigy2 Platinum 6.1 WinXP Pro + SP2 USA. AM3.1 R11 + V.Control for settings, the 5500 PCI is my secondary VGA ;) DirectX9.0c "Sveta" AMD K7 AthlonXP 2700+ Thoroughbred-B @ 2167Mhz 333Mhz FSB, 256KB L2, S462 ASUS A7V333-R Rev 1.04 VIA Apollo KT333 Bios 1017 Final 1x Samsung Original 512MB PC-2700 3dfx Voodoo5 5500 AGP 64MB Rev.A 2500 :P Creative Labs Sound Blaster Live! Surround 1024 4.1 Win2K Pro + SP4 USA. AM 3.1 R11 DirectX9.0c The settings I used in Tactical Ops were the following: Reso: 1024 x 768 x 16 @ Glide Game: Max details 3dfx V5 5K5's: FSAA x4 Force Trillinar Filtering: On 3D Filter quallity @ High Alpha Blending @ Sharper. Tactical Ops is based on the latest Unreal 1 engine. Well the 5500 AGP on the AThlonXP 2700 setup got an astonnishing 35 fps allround and at some places peaks of 43 fps! But the 5500 PCI on the Dual OpteronDP 244 setup got like 41 fps and some places it had peaks of 48 fps! So my 5500's made me happy afterall, because now I can play ma favourite Glide game with FSAA x4 @ 1024 x 768 x 16 and max game quallities on my systems. The funniest thing is that my 5500 PCI kick's the 5500 AGP on it little but bigtime, never knew that those PCI cards were that good, I suppose that the Opteron's Dual DDR 400 has lot's gotta do with this sice that the AXP 2700+'s mem is only single channel DDR333. I wanted to make screenshots so I used the printscreen button, but then when I want to see the pics I got to Pain and then I do past pic , I get to see lot's of horizontal stripes on my pics, so Maybe someone can help me out here, because really I have neve seen a Glide game so well detailed, it looked like new, and FSAA x4 looks freaky and yes I can imagine how FSAA x8 would look like on a 6K ! ;D So if some body has an idea on how I can make good pics of that game , I can show you all my lovely experience! May The Force Be With You ALL! Cheers, Obi-Wan Kenobi. |

In the 3dfx advanced options (I think) there was
an option to bind a key to make a screenshot. At least Amigamerlins drivers had such an option. After pressing the button there will be an uncompressed file in your games main folder, in this case I think eiter ../Tactical Ops or ../Tactical Ops/System. Look for a file with (I think is was) .png extention. It will capture even FSAA up to 8x. Offcourse you have to open it with a bit more advanced software then paint, Something like Irfanvieuw. I think this will work. |

well I tried it out with F12 and then windows 2K pro minimizes the game window it's self, and I press F12 again I don't see some thing happen anyways I was still anctious if there was a screenshot made.
I went to C:\Infogames\Tactical Ops and nog png files found and also in the C:\Infogames\Tactical Ops\System directory no .png files found, so I don't think that the Screen Capture key doesı give me the sollution, unless I mayneed a special program to see those .png files aka the screenies. |

Sorry its a long time since I used this option and I couldnt test because currently
I have no "voodoo-system". I was wrong you have to search for a .tga file. And secondly I would recommand binding the capture key to something else then F12. This might couse some trouble because this key is usually intended for something else too. I used the " * " key (above numpad). |

you can make your sshots brighter to (only in OpenGL) :
Go to ../Tactical Ops/System Then search for : TacticalOps.ini in the document search for : [OpenGLDrv.OpenGLRenderDevice] somelines somelines somelines ...... under the last line copy this GammaCorrectScreenshots=True and your sshots are as bright as your game looks ingame :) (atleast it works for me :D) |
