Title: Pixel Shader games - wanted list! Post by paulpsomiadis on 03.11.06 at 03:26:09
Ookay - since there's been a lot about getting PX-Shader games to work on the V5500 lately, I decided to do a topic about what games you'd like to see "patched" to work on the V5500... ;)
1. Prince of Persia - Sands of Time 2. Prince of Persia - Warrior Within 3. Prince of Persia - The Two Thrones* * - the third game only applies if Ubisoft (or third party) releases a "Starforce Pro removal patch" >:( I HAAAAATE STARFORCE!!! >:( >:( And now back on topic...LOL! ;D |

hmm have you tested the newest Clone CD or is that a no go as well?
Back ontopic then :) FarCry on a Voodoo5 would be fun since there should be a way of running it right? Call of Duty2 :P Since Call of Duty1 was a great success Call of Duty2 should do nice as well since it does support DirectX 7 hardware modes :) |

Hmm...the problem with Starforce isn't making a backup of my original POP3 CD (note, it's only CD3 that is protected) - Clone CD supports that... ::) ...but Starforce installs it's own "drivers" that interfere with Windows 'ring 0' I/O operations... ...this means that it can: - 1. Stop all writers from working until drivers are removed. :o 2. Kill random data on your HDD :o 3. Cause bluescreens...(a B.S.O.D. in other words) :o ...and several other nasty things too! >:( Anyhow, I'll not elaborate on Starforce here - just Google it if you want to find out why everyone hates it so much. :P Ok, no more talk about copy protections - back on topic now! ;) (no piracy related talk in our forum thanks!) ::) |

StarForce is liek Ghey and stuff, it just doesn't pwn ya know.
Don't tell me the odd's Paul, at the Computer club I go to we have encounters with it sometimes and yes it's a real pain in the backside to deal with ;D Okay that's enought for the off topic stuff , haha so funny when we do that hay ;D For your Pixel Shader based games list here are a few more: Flight Simulator 2004 Flight Simulator X Deluxe Edition [It has more detail, missions and more aircraft than the original one] Lock On Modern Air Combat Dark Messiah of Might And Magic Heroes of Might And Magic V Prey F.E.A.R. Battlefield2 Battlefield2: Speacial Forces |

D@MN RIGHT! ;D 8) (actually, I'm surprised I missed those!) ::) BTW...hasn't anyone else got any games they'd like to see running on the V5500? ??? Even if they just "work" and aren't really playable - it's a start and can be worked on! ;) |

hey Paul I just finnised play'n First Encounter Assult Recon aka F.E.A.R. oh man it was Hels ;D LooooooL ;D ;D ;D I must conclude that F.E.A.R. has extreme real physics, it's Mission Pack : Extraction Point: Which I will be getting this month, the advantage is that F.E.A.R. runs with the advanced Doom3 engine which also was used for Quake4 and Prey :) aka OpenGL2.0 so with Mesa FX it should be possible, maybe use'n the Doom3 MesaFX OpenGL32.dll file an idea ? |

Just a little news - Starfore Pro has been cracked! 8) Now I can play my POP3:T2T without Starforce! WOOT! ;D Obviously no questions about... ::) "Where do we get the crack for the game?" :P No piracy talk please - I'm just bringing the good news that Starforce protection has been bypassed! ;) YAY AGAIN! ;D Oh, and @Obi_Wan - can you remove the "spoiler" for the end of F.E.A.R. (coincidentally, I don't have the game yet - so thanks for spoiling the ending for me) ::) I'm not that bothered, but other people might be! (so remove the two paragraps in your last post after the quote from me) ;) Thanks in advance mate! :) |

F.E.A.R. doesn't use DooM ]|[ engine, but Monolith's own Lithtech engine. It's based on Direct3D9, not OpenGL. |

There is no room for Starforce protection on MY harddrive- As far as I'm concerned it rates right up there with a virus. Rediculous punishing the buying public for the acts of others. I will NOT buy a game that comes with Starforce protection and notify the publisher of the fact too. |

heh looks alot like the Doom3 engine if'd you'd ask me, heh but yeaps I did find out that it was a D3D application afterall. Just look on how the textures look like, allot like Doom3 heh. At first I thought they used the Doom3 engine to program it in OpenGL first then convert it to Direct3D as what was done with Unreal Tournament 2003 Tournament, there was a way to use MESAFX in Unreal Tournament 2003 so it must of been ported from OpenGLto Direct3D unless the OpenGL function was disabled for some strange reason. |
Title: Re: Pixel Shader games - wanted list! Post by paulpsomiadis on 25.01.07 at 22:03:34
UT 2003 allows you to select either D3d or OGL - hence why you could use MESA.

True, true! ;) The only reason I bought one was that it was Prince of Persia The Two Thrones. :) Although a crack is not really the 'right' way to go - I think we can all agree that a crack that allows the user to run the game without StarFARCE on their HDD is a good thing! 8) |

If So I'd like to know how ;D |
