Title: Texturing disabled
Post by specstuffer on 12.05.06 at 04:20:27
I just aquired a used Voodoo 5 AGP card.  I have it installed in my pentium 3 machine running Win Me. I could not get texturing to be enabled in Directx 9.0.  So I reloaded the OS and tried again using Directx 7.0, 8.0, 8.1, and 9.0 again.  I used different drivers available on Falconfly and still no result.

Is something I need to know about this card.  How do I enable texture? :-/

Not exactly a diver related answer, but if I were in your position... I would definetly install win98SE, I personally don't see any redeeming qualities in ME over 98SE.

..if you are referring to AGP texturing (in dxdiag),it is always disabled, voodoo cards dont support it.

UGH! WinMe... :P

...I agree with @st4r4m4m4...format it and install Win 98SE with the Unofficial SP1a. ;)

MUCH better! 8)

Yes indeed , I am refering to that test.  Does this mean that there is no texturing to be had from my card?  I get the same result in XP (dual boot)

..if you are afraid that all your games wont have any textures, well, dont be afraid, all your games will work just fine..google for agp texturing to see what is it ;)

simply said, you wont be able to enable agp texture acceleration (3dfx cards dont support it),but it doesnt matter, this feature is not important on 3dfx cards..see my dxdiag:

Great ! That's just what I needed to know.  Thanks ever so much.  Also , I was wondering if there is a diagnostic utility that could tell me if my card is functioning well or has been damaged in some way.

Does such a thing exist?

..well,when I need to test a freshly purchased voodoo card,I just give it a few spins with 3dmark2001 and few rounds of unreal tournament and quake3 to test all three APIs (FSAA disabled/enabled),and thats about it.

this should reveal all potential stability (and other) problems..
