3dfx benchmark challenge.
09.10.14 at 00:26:50

The 3dfx community has been pretty quiet for to long.
So I propose a benchmark challenge. Lets have some fun, shall we?
It's  simple anyone with a 3dfx PC can join.
The scores will be ranked, listed and categorized by the cards chipset (voodoo 1/2/3 and so on) in the OP
The benchmark used will be 3dmark2000.
And best of all the person with the highest score will get what? bragging rights for having the fasted 3dfx system.
Cool

Rules
3dmark2000 must be run with a screen resolution of 640x480.
Over clocking is allowed.
No volt modding your 3dfx card.
After market heat sinks are allowed.
No agp/pci to pci-e adapters.
You must post you results in a screen shot. (see second post for a example.)

Q&A
Q:Why the 640x480 resolution?

A:To allow voodoo 1 owners to join in.

Q:Why no volt modding?

A:Not everyone has the ability to volt mod a voodoo card witch would make a uneven playing field.

Q:Why no agp/pci to pci-e adapters?

A: Much like overvolting it makes for a uneven playing field.

Yeah, I think it's a good idea.

I will participate with my Voodoo 1. But, are you sure Voodoo 1 can run 3dmark2000?
I will try. The score won't be spectacular though.

Come on guys, I encourage you tu participate, it could be fun.  Cheesy

Yes, a Voodoo 1 can run 3DMark2000 in 640x480.

Here are some of my results:
Magic 3D Plus 8MB PCI(P2 450) 950
miroHISCORE 3D 6MB PCI(P2 450) 928
Monster 3D 4MB PCI(P2 450) 533
Obsidian SB50-4220 8MB PCI(P2 450) 505

With a faster CPU you can probably get better results. For example a Quantum3D Raven PCI (Banshee, 16MB) scores 1259 points with a P2 450, but scores 2837 points with a PIII-S 1400!

I don't have overclocked or high performance results, but for "normal" results of various cards you can check out my site: thandor.net - benchmarks - 3DMark2000 640x480.

No screen shots? As for the score being higher with a faster cpu, that could be from higher scores on cpu tests. I can't see a 450mhz P2 bottlenecking a Banshee.
Nice link BTW

I have a problem running 3dmark 2000 on my Voodoo1 system.

I use a S3 Virge 2Mb as 2D graphics card and when I try to run 3dmark, it gives me an error telling me that I need a 4Mb card to run it. The Voodoo is, but I think it detect the Virge first and give that error so I am unable to run it.

Do you know guys any way to bypass this "bug" and make it work? Is it possible to make it detect the Voodoo first or make it ignore the 2Mb Virge?
