Will only ship to Germany! :( I'd buy it if I could but I'm very, very broke. Beautiful objet d'art or functional toy? I don't care, I just love the things. 8) |

Hate to say that, but looks like only 3 true people did place bids on that one....
The rest looks 99.95% like fake bidders, and done very amateurish. I've seen it, but lost any interest due to those "EBay Noobs (fakes?)" bidding like crazy right in the very first days. The Mercury is about completely unknown in Germany, even among 3dfx freaks. No way that anyone could have discovered (and already placed dozens of bids), with the auction running still 7-8 (!) days. It would be hiding somewhere on Page 73 w/o any views :-X |

Yeah, this looks like one hell of a 3dfx collector Item :)
A pity the Auction is so.... odd... :P |

If I'd known you were interested in it, FalconFly, I would never have publicised it on here :-[ . I'll mail you if I see one again (provided the price hasn't gone into orbit... and provided I still don't have the money myself, of course ;D ).
There must be a few hundred out there in old simulators and such. They'll get cheaper too in years to come. We only have to wait. |

I guess so ;)
But there's no problem linking those anyway... Everyone should have the chance to get one, if one turns up :) |

That is an absolutely unbelievable price!
I mean a Mercury rig can only run under NT. It has a maximum resolution of 1024x1024 (although it does some tasty anti-aliasing). It only works in a very few motherboards. It's drivers will never be updated. It produces huge amounts of heat and needs special cooling and a very well-ventilated case. Spares would be very hard to get if, say, a card failed. I could go on. Don't get me wrong, I still love the things and still want one (indeed I have a quarter of one installed in this very machine). But that price... ??? :-/ |

As i mentioned, a look into the Bid History shows me only one (1) serious bidder in the end (I've been in fierce competition over 3dfx Items with him a few times ;) )...
But those "Newbie Accounts" don't look right ::) If we see that Auction running a second time, it will be clear what was attempted :P |

I don't care! I still want one. ;D
But you're right. This should make them uninteresting to the average gamer/collector. |
