Hello everybody,
I'm searching for a Voodoo 5 6000.
"Not again" you will think... Well, yes. I'm not one of those big 3dfx collectors, but I think I'm not just like any other guy searching for a Voodoo 5 6000 these days.
After many years of benchmarking and overclocking ATi/Nvidia (my past cards till 2008: ATi Mach 64, Matrox Mystique, ATi Rage 128, TNT2, Geforce 3, Geforce 5900Ultra @ 5950Ultra, go6600, 8800GTX) cards I got bored about the market situation and looked for something more "special". That's when I came across my first own Voodoo 5 5500, which was around 2008. I built up a small semi-retro storage server: Tyan Thunder K7X, 2x MP 2000+, 2GB DDR-266, a 3ware SATA-II controller, 4x 1TB HDD in RAID5 and of course the 3dfx Voodoo 5 5500.
And that's when my "passion" for 3dfx or old/special hardware started. Soon after that I got the option to buy an AAlchemy 8232SB and acquired it. The problem was the PSU, but after many research and working hours I got the card running perfectly (
http://www.voodoo3dfx.com/Foro_V6k/viewtopic.php?t=154). This was my biggest project (
next to the selfmade Rampage Dongle) so far and it isn't finished yet.
I've got three other common 3dfx cards that had either some missing parts or weren't functional after all. You can find my work on them here:
http://voodooalert.de/board/index.php?page=Board&boardID=55&s=37596fa6d9357d5f89...So I repair/clean the cards as much as possible and try to get them back to their original state.
It's not that I'm trying to tell you "I deserve a Voodoo 5 6000", no, what I want to show you is that I care about the cards and will keep them safe. Also my abilities on SMD reworks (also some BGA reworks) are very good and I think I could be able to keep the card alive for a long time.
I'm looking for a Voodoo 5 6000 and it doesn't matter what revision it is. Fully or partially working cards are welcome but also defective ones.
Feel free to write comments or PMs.
