V3 3500 troubles

Hey!

I've recently been taking tons of videos with my video camera and would like to do a little video capturing.  My bro-in-law had a 3500TV sitting around without a driver disk.  I have been racking my brain trying to figure this out.  I installed it in a K6II-400 w/ 228MB RAM (or somewhere abouts)  I have used 98SE/2k/XP ... have used the drivers and such... but nothing seems to work.  The best was on 98SE, I at least got the right stuff, but Visual Reality would not work!  I NEED HELP!  I am not going to go buy another video card... I just want to get video in/out working on this stupid thing... any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated!

This is quite odd.

For Win98 and Win2k, the 3dfx Reference Driver should work flawless, I never had any Problems with them.

For WinXP, another User recently had great success with the AmigaSport Driver.

Make sure you uninstall any previous Drivers from the old Video Card, and if still encountering problems, you can always try an older (WHQL) 3dfx Reference Driver for the Voodoo3 3500/TV

Be aware though, that the Voodoo3 3500/TV AFAIK does not offer any realtime encoding, and requires a very fast HardDisc.
The System you are using it in (even if it works) may cause alot of dropped frames due to that.

Thanks, I'll use the Reference drivers... I am using the AmigaSport drivers for it right now in Win2k.... I'll switch.  Smiley

your CPU is too slow for capturing video.3dfx recommends a 600MHz or better CPU..

Ah bullocks! A pair of Voodoo 2's in SLI shouldn't be able to run Doom3, yet they do. Minimum system requirements are a guideline, nothing more. Grin

Well, I ended up reverting back to Win98SE.  I've got the RC1 drivers setup... but there is no TV out function!  How do I go about getting the TV out function to work...?  I have yet to install VR, so I don't know if that works yet.

Hm, there are two more possible sources of Problems :

- Card is NTSC but you're using a PAL (or other Standard) for example
- unlikely, but maybe you didn't download the correct Regional Driver

Last time I did capturing with my Voodoo3 3500/TV, I was using the V1.04.02 Driver under Win98SE, had no Problems.

Note that the RC1 is a Release Candidate, but by no means a final Driver. If possible, try to stick to a WHQL or final Driver to rule out any Problems.

I give up... I have done EVERYTHING to make it work!  It still does the same thing... I'll just wait until I can get the USB TV/Video-in for my Laptop!  (ebay - $50) ... I guess for now, I'll just switch the card in my wife's computer (it's a V3 3000)... I know the video-out works on it... and she never uses the video out function, so... I'll just put the 3500 in hers ... and the 3000 in my media machine!  At least then, I'll have video-out!  Smiley
