Well, what MHz is your Pentium3 running on ?

Note that WinXP for sure is not the Ideal gaming platform, I know Halflive ran perfect on my Voodoo3 using default OpenGL or MiniGL Driver with a Pentium II 400Mhz under Win98, a long time ago...

It likely eats alot of your 160 (?) MB of RAM. For Gaming, people usually recommend 256MB as a minimum for any serious Gaming under WinXP.

Make sure you have WickedGL configured correctly as well, so play with a couple of its options to see what gives you the best results (e.g. Texture Compression).

Also, try different Renderers (WickedGL 'should' get into the Loop when OpenGL is selected), but there should be also a MiniGL and Direct3D option... Just to test everything.

PS.
One Thread is sufficient ;)

Hm, you could try the following :

AmigaMerlin 2.5SE, Mikepedo 1.1, or 3dHQ Beta7/9/10...

Download Page? Well, here :

I always guessed people visiting the 3dfx Archive went to the File Archive first, before coming to the Forum (?)
As this is not the first time, I find that somewhat odd

Why do you use Win XP with Voodoo for playing (why using XP at all  ;D)... Install Win98 SE, and play games much better, and faster!!!

I have Celeron533/Voodoo3(8MB!!!!), Win 98, and I'm playing Half Life (and HL: Blue Shift) at 1024x768 with incredible smoothness!!!

No, they use the same protocols, trust me ;)

It just needs to be added (likely, you talk about IPX Protocol) on the XP machine, which does not install it by default...

Beats me...

If it's really 'clean' (XP installs ALOT of default services that don't show up), it should work faster than that, regardless of API used (?)

Other than that, I have no more Ideas, since I only got WinXP on a Notebook, and won't touch it  :P

My friend has 3 os system: Win XP, Win98 and Linux.
He uses XP for serious (bussines) stuff, Win 98 for playing, fun... and Linux for programming. Belive me, two system combination is best option for you. If some other games make LAN problems, play them in WinXP, but HL or similar games play at Win98! :-/
