Voodoolizer drivers (XP)
03.09.03 at 06:27:04

I am truely curious about what it is that they are doing that they say they are modifiying 3Dfx drivers, as well as making a new Voodoo 5 BIOS?

I am using google to translate it into English. If these are English drivers, and they are supporting more than the German language, shouldn't the web site be muli-lingual like 3Dfx Zone? Sounds fishy  Undecided

I was going to send an email to them but I am not sure if they speak English due to the web site beinging German --- but the drivers ---- being modified are in English (The whole -- copyrighted by Voodoolizer crud)?

Does any one know what 1.05.01, the new driver soon to come out for V4/5, how and what they modified, besides .inf and renaming and infringing on the copyright? (or anything thing they've "modified" for that fact)

They claim that their bios will improve stability and performance on the Voodoo 5.....I wasn't aware these were problems. Bios V1.18 did it the trick for everyone, and ever since I upgraded to it, all the problems with the card I had went away. They are "working" on 1.19 -- "Voodoolizer copyrighted" version. Sorry 1,19 -- I guess the don't like periods in their version #s

I really am really very curious, is anyone else?

I take it you are bitter, no?

I have update my BIOS to *3Dfx's* 1.18 BIOS -- I would reccomend that you get your hands on it -- it's *not* 3rd party, at least not the one I have. And it does fix some performance quailty problems inherent in the card. You obviously wouldn't see any difference becuase you haven't upgraded yet.

FAQ reqarding problems, etc. with older Voodoo 5 BIOSes

As for Voodoolizer -- emm. cut me some slack dude! I would like to find out more becuase it would be interesting to see what they heck it is they really are doing.

I know AmigaMerlin is the driver to use, I swear by it myself. Only one I know that are staring to finally re-complie the source code.

But of course I wouldn't the voodoolizer BIOS, I am too weary to use someone's driver whom claims to have copyrights to 3Dfx source code.

*sigh*

...Since a number of people asked before, here's some 'history' of the "Voodoolizer", and why it will never be hosted in the 3dfx Archive :

http://www.falconfly-central.de/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl?board=drivers;action=displa...

Pretty Self-Explanatory, and everyone is given the chance to confirm all findings by himself.

Quickly summed up :
The results were nothing short of devastating, and other events further decreased their credibility to plain NIL (they've basically hit Ground Zero by now)

All findings were re-confirmed with Drivers released previously by them, as well as later Releases. Same for all Operating Systems, for all Cards Roll Eyes

Still, working Drivers of course, but with a very bad taste to them, in many many ways Roll Eyes

(I could easily write Pages just about this alone, but in the Past I've already chosen to let this rest "case closed" for good, which is the best thing to do I think)

That pretty much answered my quesiton in a very basic way (good enough by me  Grin )

I just don't know a lot about this place that popped up outta thin air and, I agree, from the other posts and this one -- case closed.

I just wanted to get the whole story on these fakers.

However, I did not make a request for you to host their drivers FYI -- I would hope you wouldn't.

Not the only drivers that used the 3dfx source code. What do you think the 3dhq drivers were based off? They've had the source code for quite some time now before NuAngel released it.

You said that the amigas were the only ones that were made from re-compiling the 3dfx source code. Wrong, because the 3dhq drivers were compiled using the source code.

Ehm, hate to disappoint you, but the 3dHQ Driver cores are all standard 3dfx reference cores (except Kool's Glide Files, which are the only new components), other than that none were recompiled in any way.

If they had the Source, they apparently didn't know what to do with it.

Just check the Timestamps of the Files, and you'll see the standard 1999 to Jan 2001 Dates, with the mentioned exception of Kool's Glide and the VoodooControl Applet of course.

Falconfly:  In Mr. lecram25's posts in other message boards, he doesn't seem too much on what he's talking about 3Dfx wise.

lecram25: What Falconfly says is true, take any hex editor to their files, and do a comparison..they didn't re-compile the source code. They took C+ modified a version #, date, comments setion -- easy --anyone with no programming skills and a comiler can do this, most do too! And then modifiy the inf files for "Better" "quality"/"performance".

The only ones I know that re-complie the source to make new drivers is the AmigaMerlin team, but it's they are porting it over from 3Dfx's source code from Linux.

No offense, but you might want to do some research and read up on 3Dfx a little more.  Undecided

I think we should close out the Voodoolizer topic, there are other threads which discuss everything Voodoolizer releated. They are a bunch of fakers.

From what I have read in these posts, this topic has been done to death.

Well, it's not a biggie...

Many people thought 3dHQ recompiled Driver source (still today), probably something that kept the hope up over the long time between releases I guess.

Anyway, not a bad Driver, many still like and use it Smiley
------------
So far, there is no fully recompiled Driver existing.

The only new Driver Cores I know of so far :

Colourless Glide
Kool's Glide and GxpOGL wrapper
Recent (02 Aug 2003) Glide Core from Soundforge

But chances are good that finally more really recompiled/modified Code is released in form of Drivers sometime in the future. (As usual) it's just a matter of time; fully understanding the Source takes alot of time, let alone improve it...

I don't mean to put the guy down but he seems to, from that post on the english 3Dfx Zone post you read and I did myself not too long ago.

He seems to get biligerant in not knowing what he's talking about, and then after getting into it for a while asks someone else for the answer and then gives backup for his argument -- when it's too little to late, brawl already happened.

That was the single most embarrasing post I've read yet  Embarrassed

You'd think they'd have done that already. Undecided

I would assume this makes it embarrasing for those whom moderate the forums to keep a post like that for all to read due to the crud that dirtied it up.

What are you talking about? You were the one who posted about how geometry assist is working under the NT kernel. So how does that make me wrong when I said it doesn't? Please, start explaining.

Lecram25: We were talking about Voodolizer drivers, please stay on topic.

Ease up there cowboy.

Any more of this is a waste of time -- this topic is in regards to *Voodoolizer XP*, not what Lecram25 is mad about today. If you wish to discuss Voodoolizer XP, I'd be happy to. But this nonsense stops here. Angry

patience: This guy is getting us off topic and looks as if he has decided to start picking a fight with me. . . . Undecided
