Mainboard for VSA-100 based board: Epox EP-8K5A3+
13.09.05 at 21:05:24

Hi at all!

I hope that someone can help me. I would like to know what is the best CPU for this mobo...

I am a bit confused about that Undecided. I know that a good AthlonXP 2700+ Thoroughbred works pretty fine, probably is the better CPU

But the person that sell me the epox says that he have used the motherboard with a Barton 2600+ for one year and no problems are occurred

Barton compatibility is not documented by Epox, but it seems that the EP-8K5A3+ can run Barton cores (2600+ model at least). If is true that AMD Barton is compatibile, what is the best? The MAX?

Someone can help me to bring the light on?

Ehm ok....It seems that i not explain my request clearly, sorry Grin

I will try again Smiley

"Someone can confirm to me that EP-8K5A3+ can run Barton CPU? If yes, someone have experiences about AMD AthlonXP 3000+ Barton on this mobo?"

Thanks to all

A Barton will work in this board!

I had a Barton 3000+ in my 8K3A+ (same board with older southbridge) and it worked without any problems. And I also never heard of problem with Bartons in Epox KT333 boards.

So Barton is supported! Ok very well! But i really not understand the reason why Epox did not report this precious info, as you can see here (Click directly on Open and select AMD CPU list of course)

because in times of KT333 no bartons were made and the mobo companies mostly stop their support and CPU lists and so on for discontiued items...

hmm shouldn't it be the EPoX EP-8K5A2+ for great Voodoo5 5500/6000 support? never knew that there was an EP-8K5A3+ model Smiley

Yeah, but if you look on top, at left corner of the first CPU support list page, date shown is June 2005 ???

EDIT: Ok, the CPU support list is a total list also for newer models like KT400/600/880 and nFORCE2/3 chipsets based boards.....So probably, Epox have upgraded list in June 2005 with new info only for some newer models, I guess...

This lack is not professionality index Lips Sealed
ASUS would not have made the same Lips Sealed Lips Sealed

The EP-8K5A3+ is basically an EP-8K5A2+ but has a separate IDE-RAID-Controller on board so it has four IDE-Channels instead of two. Otherwise it is exactly the same board.
