Voodoo Banshee on WinXp

Hi.
I'm using winXp and my AGP Graphic card broke down. I tried to use my old PCI banshee but now i can get only 4bit color depth. When i select 16bit it crashes my computer. To start windows i must select  VGA start. I've tried lots of driver but nothing works. Could you help me out?
Thanks

Are you sure the card itselfs works perfect?
It also might be an incompatibility with your, on the 3Dfx Banshee based card and the motherboard of your PC.

You might try fiddeling with PCI related settings in the BIOS. Try setting the PCI Latency timer to 64. (32 is default in most cases).

By the way, what kind of motherboard are you using. I never experienced compatibility problems between the Banshee cards and motherboards so I'm interested in troubleshooting your problem.

My motherboard is a Asus A7m266.
I'm positive that the Graphic card is working because it worked normaly twice in this mobo, but when rebooting it goes always to 4 bit. I also notice that the heatsink is very hot, is that normal?
