Title: OMG! Unreal Tournament 2007!!!
Post by Obi-Wan_Kenobi on 11.05.05 at 01:01:58
Well these are one of the first ever seen UT 2007 screenies:

http://img.gamespot.com/gamespot/images/2005/128/reviews/928117_20050509_embed004.jpg

here some info on what UT 2007 is gonna be like:

According to Capps, the studio is "trying to make sure that UT 2007 is a mix of UT 2004 and [the original Unreal Tournament from 1999]," while maintaining the series' focus on multiplayer competition. "We want to own the deathmatch space."

well if games are gonna look  like this I dunno if our Voodoo 3,4 & 5's can handle these heavy sicko graphics! ATi's X800/850 series has HDc Texture Compression as advantage and the NV's 6800 series thier Displacement Mapping as advantage, well we'll soon see clear enough what hard shall be needed to run this fluidly, I do think Multicore and SMP will be very well supported by then.

here the source I got it from:

http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/unrealtournament2007/preview_6123872.html

Have fun reading :)

Looks and sounds excellent *drool*

I especially like their Idea to enhance Onslaught by mixing it with Unreal2-XMP features, really looking forward to it!
(although the screens really look like new GFX Hardware is goona be needed ;) )

well yes I am looking forward to it also, okay My Dual OpteronDP 244 with ASUS X800XT PE AGP is ready for it, but it might work on our 3dfx Voodoo5 cards, we did think the same for Doom3 and Unreal Tournament 2004 remember :)

So there maybe hope, and let's hope that there will be a WinXP 64Bit driver for our Voodoo5 cards. then we could use our 64Bit CPU's aka A64, A64FX OpteronDP, PentiumD for the T&L parts. and I think it is possible. 3dfx shall rise again!

ut2007 with 3dfx? hm...maybe a dual cpu mainboard + v5 6000 with the agp2pci adapter ;)

or a v2 patch like the one for doom3 :D

well I do have a feelig it will work, the main advantage is the every Unreal Engine didn't really need high end gear to run, so maybe like the SOurce engine from Valve it will run on a DX 7 croe, and the other cores built around it.

if that is the issue a Voodoo4 4500 or a Voodoo5 5000, 5500 or 6000 should be able to run it with out any problems.

AmigaMerlin's new driver 3.1 R10 will support the newest DX9.0c features but then softwarematicly, so there is still hope.

Out of curiosity, I've just downloaded the swShader Demos from SourceForge, and it looks good :)

For those that don't know it yet :
A Software DirectX9 Shader with quite decent performance and good Image quality.

With a bit of luck, 3dfx Voodoo Cards might indeed soon see Pixel Shader (1.x and 2.0), with performance only depending on CPU power available ;D

what system is recommened? a high-oc system like the from from tm30?

For swShader, a Pentium II 233MHz is sufficient, but a Pentium III (or higher) is recommended to utilize the SSE-support of this Software.

yes my friends 3dfx has the Force, and will always grow stronger with it.

Well FalconFly, there is hope, and yes if SM 1.1 to 2.0 is possible in software mode, well our Voodoo 4 and 5 cards will be able to run UT 2007 flawlessly.

would be very impressive for 6 year old hardware by then  :o :o :o

This is where I first read about it on the net:

http://pc.gamespy.com/pc/unreal-tournament-2007/617072p1.html

Also contains a few more screens than Obi's post.

The funny thing is, I first read about it in the UK version of the magazine PC GAMER, a few days earlier before eyeing this online preview.  Except throughout their entir article, they referred to it as Unreal Torunament 2006!  :-/

UT 2006 well yeah I thought they mised a few years, what about UT 2005 that year has been skipped also hehe.

UT 2007 would sound wierd alittle wierd when releasen in Q1  2006 hehe year 2007 would be 11 mounths after the lanch of the game it's self hehe, wierd stuff.

From what we've seen so far of the game, I would not take it as Gospel.

If the game is to be released either sometime, late next year, or after that, the game is not likely to be based on DirectX anymore.

After DX9, Microsoft are on course for abandoning DX in favour of new foundation software.
