Title: Singles
Post by sync on 27.03.06 at 11:30:11
I'm trying to run the game "Singles: Flirt Up Your Life".  Well I'm not trying to run it because I think it's a load of crap, but my wife is.  Anyway, it runs on the Voodoo5 but all the textures appear black, and the menus disappear until you put the mouse cursor over them.  It's like looking at a negative.  I downloaded the Amiga Merlin 3 drivers and installed, but my desktop was in VGA mode and wouldn't change, so I had to roll back the driver to the one that came with XP.

Any ideas?

Cheers.

Andy

install the latest SFFT driver (extract the archive, open the device manager, find the voodoo5,click update driver, dont search automatically, find the location yourself and load the driver),reboot, and try running the game.see if that helps..

well I kinda expected you would run into some problems, but having exactly the same problem looks strange.are you sure you have the SFFT driver correctly installed? look for 3dfxvs.dll file in your windows/system32 folder and check the product version.it should read XXXVI..right now it seems like you still have the default "sux-a-lot" ms driver installed..(during the SFFT driver install,xp will pop up some stupid message abut the driver being older than the one currently installed, you should choose continue anyway if you see it.)

the playable demo has been released,i'll have a look at it (downloading now)..

Sorry you re downloading it, it sux big time!  Don t go to too much trouble over this.  Anyway I did install the drivers and selected continue anyway.  It installed ok but the desktop stays in the vga mode.  XP informs me that my resolution isnt at its best or something and I click to change it but it stays the same.  I ve rolled back to the xp driver again. :-[

If you ve any other ideas thanks if not then thanks anyway for your help!  ;)

try installing the the full driver: Amigamerlin 3.1 R11.see if the problem with xp not being able to change resolution persists.

I m almost winning a Radeon 9800 on ebay.  If I can pull that off I can throw this card in the bin, or would it be any use to anyone? are some more value than others? this on is an agp 5500 with 64megs two chips with 'avid' fans, lots of small chips with "hyundai" and two video connectors.
