Oops, seems 7800 GTX isn't 7800 GTX, so you're right there.

Although arguably, ATI will likely publish some "golden sample" or alike as well... these Ultra-High end Cards are built in low numbers, only to take Benchmark records, be they ATI or NVidia Wink.

My point was going towards the normal "stock" Cards intended for the masses, not those isolated "we can clock&sell a few cards higher if you pay enough" Editions.

Quite confusing though, I would have thought they'd label their 512MB "Expensive Speedy Edition" differently.

btw. checking the largest Resellers in Germany, I can only find the Cards as "Announced", "not in stock" or "delivery date unknown", so at least here it's available on Paper only as of now.

My money is on Nv having the upper hand for some time unless ATI pulls a rabbit out of it's hat.

Which I really doubt at the rate they have been going.

they are all sold out! they will get some new cards on Nov 24, alternate.de said so!

some freaks in hardwareluxx.de and of course xtremesystems.org already have such card... and OF COURSE in SLI configs Wink

and yes, nvidia only produces a small amount, or in other words they have to find good G70 Cores...

but ATI doesnt make it better... they REALLY do a paperlaunch with that XT card...

... and the XL is toooooooooo expensive for the performance. 7800GTX is the better alternative. or even 7800GT which is cheaper...

here in the Netherlands the Geforce 6800GT AGP & PCI is still the best price performance nVidia card and the ATi Radeon X800XT PE AGP/PCI is the best Price performance ATi card,  those 2 types are actually fast enough, if I had to choose from nVidia's G7 or ATi's R520 it would be ATi's R520 it just can do lots more with lot's less.

Do remember that the R520 only has 16 pipes and the G70 has 24 and in the most cases the R520 can easily keep up with the G70 and also in many cases even beat it while in other cases it's the other way around and if ATi used 24 pipes with thier R520 then the G70 would of been purified.

We might as well wait for ATi's R580, that VPU is gonna slaughter NV all the way, unless nV comes with thier G80 and then there you have it, the circle has turned once again, both compainies are actually throwing mud 'n' rocks 'n' sticks at each other, while the difference is actually so small, it's actully pointless to go on about the two.

I rather hope that Matrox, S3 & XGI come with something totally different, so tiered of choosing between ATi & nVidia, just want to see something else.
