If so, could you please list all of the retail boxe's contents? [cds, cables, manuals, whatever]

Thanks.

Is it a cost:performance ratio thing, DenisF?

Or is there a paticular reason for the 9500/9700 Pro?  Something to do with the R300 chip?

btw, congrats on the card matey!  ;D  'Tis a real performer and I'm sure you'll have fun!  Give it some real performance testing, and give us some results and some screenshots to see what it can do!  :D

What is your current system specs?  I have the card, but need the machine!  :-[

Need a new CPU, mobo, and memory. Hope the ATA-100 hard drive will be quick enough to run modern games still.  What do you reckon?

re 3dmark05 - tell me more.  :D

When does that come out?

I suppose I'd better just go over and check @ Futuremark (but I just can't be bothered, I'm so lazy!  ;))

My system;

Abit NF7-S Revision2.0, Athlon XP-M 2600+@3200+, GeiL Golden Dragon 512mb Dual Channel Kit [2x256mb], and currently an ATi Radeon 8500 64mb, soon to be replaced by an el' sexy Radeon 9700pro 128mb  8)

Should score something like 5.5k in 3dmark03 when i get the 9700 :)

As far as your system goes, it's just fine the way it is :)
atleast imho

And u know how madonion/futuremark are.... "when it's done", nobody knows yet for sure :)
there are some pics floating around, pretty freaking amazing to say the least.
and it *requires* a ps 2.0 card, it just won't boot on ps 1.x...

Hey @DenisF, could you maybe post a link to some screens of 3DM05? ???

Cheers... ;)

Alot of info to digest ;)

Anyways, anyone got the contents of 9700p's box yet?

Title: Re: Anyone got a Built-By-ATi Radeon 9700 pro?
Post by janskjaer on 29.09.04 at 12:20:32
re the 9700p contents.  It's the same as the 9500p contents.

1 x Original Box (naturally ::))
1 x Radeon Manual
1 x Driver CD (I think Catalyst Drivers are dated Oct 2002.  Could be wrong).
1 x Radeon 9500/9700p
1 x CRT-DVI adapter dongle
1 x Y- Power cable

That's about it.  The ATI Built cards don't really come with any extras or novelties.  :(

Was there something in particular you wanted from it?

Re 3DMark05 and my machine.  My machine's ok for now, but requirements are quickly creeping up on me and I can't see how this rig is going to last me throught my final year at uni (come on, I'm gonna need to play some games some nights when I'm not boozing it! ;D) without some updates.

As for 3DMark05, I reckon my score will consist of around -948  ;D.

My current 3DMark03 was around 3.5k - 4k I think.  I can't remember because I formatted my machine last week and have put no benchmarks back on yet.

For your ATI drivers, give OmegaDrivers a try.

http://www.omegadrivers.net/

For me, they are better than ATI's standard and give me more stability and performance.

I have nothing but complaints for ATI's own standard Cat drivers.  >:(

Omega recently released his Cat 4.9 drivers, so check 'em out.  :)

Title: Re: Anyone got a Built-By-ATi Radeon 9700 pro?
Post by FalconFly on 04.10.04 at 01:46:01
*g*

Actually gave it a shot and came in at 714 Points (good ol' DeltaChromeS8 running again).

Do I need Viagra now ??? :-X ;D

PS.
IMHO (for the poor Performance the Bench is imposing on almost all maintream Cards) the Visual Eyecandy is close to non-existent.

I mean, I'm seeing Low Definition Textures and really nothing breathtaking. In short, nothing to excuse the insane Hardware requirements to leave the "Slideshow" region of performance... Worst 3D Quark ever IMHO.

Funny thing is, that even running all basic Tests (or, for crying out loud, watching the dumb Demo) you're actually expected to pay like 20$ :o
Tssss... :P

Title: Re: Anyone got a Built-By-ATi Radeon 9700 pro?
Post by DenisF on 04.10.04 at 09:12:59
Can't really comment on the eyecandy aspect of things, but you can bet i will once my sweetass 9700p arrives  8)

And as far as s8's performance goes, i won't step into that fire again :)

Title: Re: Anyone got a Built-By-ATi Radeon 9700 pro?
Post by FalconFly on 04.10.04 at 10:16:07
*lol*

There is no "fire", for as long as you know the technical specifications/limitations of the Hardware and the development status of the Driver concerning a 4 days young synthetic Benchmark. ;)

Title: Re: Anyone got a Built-By-ATi Radeon 9700 pro?
Post by janskjaer on 04.10.04 at 10:37:59
Did you all get the hotfix patch, to upgrade to v1.1.0?  Make sure you do as it fixes some artificially inflated results that are produced.  You also need v1.1.0 to submit online results.

Title: Re: Anyone got a Built-By-ATi Radeon 9700 pro?
Post by FalconFly on 04.10.04 at 11:14:52
Yep, got that installed.

Funny thing is, that in order to publish a Score, you have to use either an ATI or an NVidia Card *g*
(Futuremark does not seem to know any other manufacturers)

The Bench labels the DeltachromeS8 as an "Generic VGA" for example ;)

Title: Re: Anyone got a Built-By-ATi Radeon 9700 pro?
Post by janskjaer on 04.10.04 at 19:59:41
It's possible that Futuremark would rather ignore any other manufacturers more like.  They see ATI and nVIDIA as the streamline of manufacturers and don't feel others would be adopted.  How rude.  ::)

Title: Re: Anyone got a Built-By-ATi Radeon 9700 pro?
Post by janskjaer on 04.10.04 at 20:34:54
Well I run the test with my current system (sheck my sig) and it came in at an honest 1365 marks.

Dunno if that is good or bad at this point, but according to what FalconFly got, shouldn't mine be lower than his?  I dunno!  :-/

EDIT: Oh, and that's with the system back down to it's original CPU @ 1333.3MHz and mobo back down to 266MHz.  Wonder what the score would be like when running at o/c speeds?

Title: Re: Anyone got a Built-By-ATi Radeon 9700 pro?
Post by paulpsomiadis on 04.10.04 at 21:55:43
Yah mate, it's obvious that you'll get a higher score... ::)

1. You're card is a Radeon - default 3DM05 support! ;D

2. Falcon was running it on a Deltachrome! :P

Shame that there isn't more support for 'other' cards...I suppose there will be update 'patches' EVENTUALLY... ::)

[pigs fly past window] :o

Title: Re: Anyone got a Built-By-ATi Radeon 9700 pro?
Post by janskjaer on 05.10.04 at 10:59:58
Oh right, so the 3DMark05 support has a beneficial factor on the score, depending on what chipsets they support?  That's a bit harsh.   :(  Yes, they should get more extended support to other chipsets as soon as possible. Then it would be better.  :)

Title: Re: Anyone got a Built-By-ATi Radeon 9700 pro?
Post by paulpsomiadis on 09.10.04 at 00:13:50
Well, I've switched to using OMEGA drivers on my Radeon 9700 Pro, as the latest ATI betas will give an "OUT OF VRAM" error with 3DMark '05... ::)

Oh, and for everyone with broadband (lots of you) please be aware that I downloaded ALL 283MB of 3DM05 via a 'dial-up' connection! :o

And YES, it WAS worth the wait! ;D

PEACE! 8)

Make SURE you DL yourself the latest OMEGA drivers for the Radeon! ::)

They are WAY better than any ATI stuff! 8)

(Also you'll NEED them to RUN 3DM05 - else it will crash [see my last post]) :P

Radeon KIX A$$! 8)

Hey, I managed to get the 3DMark05 first demo run at 1 fps at some complex points!  :)

Title: Re: Anyone got a Built-By-ATi Radeon 9700 pro?
Post by DenisF on 10.10.04 at 21:06:05
Neh, i'll stick to the stock drivers.

The only thing that omega does is change levels of detail and other stuff like that that aren't changeable in the stock drivers.

alas, on a card that gives 40fps in the doom3 timedemo demo1 at medium details+800x600x32+FSAAx2+Anisox8, i don't think i need that extra 1~2fps that omega's tweaks will give me ;)

Well the R300 is a very good and solid core, My Hercules 3D Prophet 9700 Pro X-Mas Edition surely does it's stuff the right way.  it's a red Hercules 9700 Pro and normally they are blue :D, the red ones are quite rare i guess, all my other friends that have a Hercules 9700/9700 pro, they are all blue.

it's stock speed is core/mem 325/620 and my max OC was 388/730 quite okay for stock cooling even outpacing the 9800 pro cards, only the FSAA and AF is better on the 9800 pro cards. my 9800 Pro is a normal Connect3D built by ATi.

here the Hercules 3D Prophet 9700 Pro X-Mas Red Edition:

and here the original :

and here a Blue one with the heatsinks of the X-Mas Red Edition:

The one I have is the X-mas Red edition, now I'm lookng for the other two. hmm three different Hercules Radeon 9700 pro's m now that's neat. :P

Heh, my modded Radeon 9500 (a.k.a. 9700Pro) looks JUST like the Hercules XMAS edition! ;D

I have a Vantec copper heatsink (includes blue LED mod) and copper RAM-sinks on all of the RAM... ;)
