Hey guy! ???


my grapics card: GeForce 4 mx 440

Alias the game name Smiley but not working Sad

Minimum Requirements:

- Windows XP, ME, 2000, 98SE
- 1.6 GHz Intel Pentium 4, 2.6 Ghz Celeron, or better
- 256Mb RAM
- 1.2 GB HD Space
- 4X CD-ROM
- DirectX 8.1 Compliant video card
- Hardware Vertex and Pixel Shaders V1.1---I think too many pixel Sad
- DirectX 8.1 Compatible Sound Card
- All DirectInput devices, keyboard and mouse

You need a DX8 card for that game, your GF4mx is only DX7

You can try to start the game with 3D-Analyze, but I am not sure it helps...

The game needs pixel and vertex shaders, and these are DX8 features.

and any <GF3* cards are DX7, thus his card doesn't start the game.

The GF4mx is also a DX7 card, being nothing more than a GF2mx on acid.

note that vertex shaders 1.1 is dx7 stuff also Roll Eyes but you're right, the gforce mx series is dx7 only (that's why it's so cheap, isn't it? Wink ) nd therefore you got problems w/ most games requiring dx8 at least.

Vertex shader 1.1 is a DX8 feature, DX7 does vertex processing via TnL.

[not the best description, but i'm too tired to get technical on this :p]

thought TnL is nothing less than the name for shader processing works.. Roll Eyes but nobody uses it nowadays. please correct me if I'm wrong! Wink

Anyway :

T&L was first introduced in fixed Hardware T&L Units as supported in DirectX7.

Pixel Shaders saw their first light with DirectX8 or DirectX8.1 (not sure which).

it was dx8.0...dx8.1 comes w/ pixel shaders up to vers. 1.4..anyway, I'm talking about vertex shaders here & as I see it, vertex shaders 1.1 were introduced w/ dx7, commonly known those days as Hardware Transform & Lighting Roll Eyes
