Welcome back Master Jedi of the 3dfx archives!
Yes I have sensed that you would come back, though indeed there was some cleaning up to do before you came back, now that the threat has been removed, I hope we all can keep this place a secure and safe place. My new Jedi Students greet you: The Force Feels strong here and yes my mind is clear. Remember The Force Will Be With You...Always, Ben Kenobi. |

well he's one of the Jedi Masters of 3dfx to me ;)
@ Gary, What are those jumpers meant for on the 3dfx Specter 1000 AGP x4 32Mb DDR Rev.A1 4700? The jumpers are located just above the VSA-200 Ramapge GPU and also scattered next to the Specter 1000's Bios chip. |

There is now an "updates" link in the navigation menu at the very bottom. Pretty much anytime something new is uploaded I drop a note there. Some other new stuff too but I'm waiting for one or two items to pan out before posting =) Thanks everyone, good to be back. |

Title: Re: Luck of the Irish II: ROTJ Post by gdonovan on 31.08.05 at 20:03:04
Nope, these three came with a pile of cd's and DVD's loaded with beta drivers, press cd images and movies that showed up in the mail the other day.

Title: Re: Luck of the Irish II: ROTJ Post by voodoo5500 on 31.08.05 at 20:28:22
@gdonovan,
Just out of curiousity, the Rampage card you have acquired would be like having the holy grail, but I'm assuming the driver must be very alpha\immature ? So even if the card is somewhat stable and does not have many hardware bugs, will it not be nearly impossible to realize the cards full potential without advancing the driver ? |
Title: Re: Luck of the Irish II: ROTJ Post by gdonovan on 31.08.05 at 20:54:14
The Rampage opengl driver is going to be polished by the best man at hand and I have contacts with a few people who worked on the project.
=) Patience is required on this as I have other projects and tasks pulling at my time. |
Title: Re: Luck of the Irish II: ROTJ Post by edmundoab on 31.08.05 at 21:26:39
would be a dream come through to finally see a real rampage in action.
i hope this project succeeds nevertheless the whole community is behind ya on this =) |
Title: Re: Luck of the Irish II: ROTJ Post by gdonovan on 31.08.05 at 21:28:59 The mailman has arrived- The 5500 REV A0 is indeed a 1400 with "NOT FOR RESALE" tags. Works perfect, I suspect it has been reflashed as it has a 1.16 bios though. I have it running Quake3 demo loops on the testbed to make sure all is well. Vigilance my friends, vigilance. The CD's pictured are what came in the other day- Press kit images before they were finished, beta drivers (including RC1 for 3500TV both in English and Japanese) videos, loads of pics, etc. I'm going to try and compile the stuff onto a single DVD, it will be avaliable for the cost of the disc and shipping. |

Not always true but the bulk of it is for sure. |
Title: Re: Luck of the Irish II: ROTJ Post by frank-bao on 01.09.05 at 13:07:52 wrote on 01.09.05 at 12:59:48:
but prototype is bulk i suppose or oem version. a lot of testing labs or it magazines can receive engineering sample for test. |
Title: Re: Luck of the Irish II: ROTJ Post by Eye-Q on 01.09.05 at 13:57:01
I think gdonovan didn't mean "bulk cards" with "bulk" but "the biggest part". ;)
|
Title: Re: Luck of the Irish II: ROTJ Post by gdonovan on 01.09.05 at 14:00:30
Yes, here in the U.S. "bulk" = "majority" or large number.
I was very confused when collectors from Europe listed cards as "bulk" till I figured out it meant either OEM or just unboxed in general. |
Title: Re: Luck of the Irish II: ROTJ Post by frank-bao on 01.09.05 at 14:10:08
yes. maybe the different style of english language.
in uk..."bulk" means unboxed or oem...often saw on ebay uk. i do not know "bulk" means majority actually.. sorry about that... :D |
