Title: Problem with Voodoo 3500 TV Drivers
Post by Ioannis Fidiarakis on 28.05.03 at 10:36:02
I have this problem guys.
I have the Voodoo 3500 TV Non-US version and I have installed Win98SE.
I have used the drivers from falconfly's page. In specific, I have installed:
22 Nov 2000 3dfx Voodoo3 3500 V1.06.00rc1 .
It looked fine.
Then I have installed the Virtual Reality version 3.10.06.
The problem I have is when I run the VR it says that there is a problem with the surface overlay and I should terminate all other applications using it or reduce the resolution and refresh rate of my monitor.
I have done all these but nothing happened.
I have also removed this version of VR (cleaned the Registry as well) and tried the other 2 versions of VR (3.10.05, 3.0.02) but I still had the problem.
I could really use some help here!!!

Thank you guys

I am really sorry finding out that noone can help me on this.
Anyway, I have installed Win XP as well and used the drivers from falconfly. The problem still exists. In specific when I run the 3DFX TV I get a message saying:
Unable to load the [3dfx Voodoo3TV TVTuner]filter

and then another message saying:
3DFX was not able to run. This may be because other programs are using a resource it needs, or the wrong drivers are installed. Please quit all other programs and run 3dfx TV again. If it still does not run, please contact 3dfx support for assistance.

I am starting thinking that there should be a problem with my motherboard or my BIOS's settings.
I own a Commate P2BXA motherboard with a PIII 550 and 384 MB of memory.

Hm, I've digged up some Info's on the VoodooUsers Site, that might help :

http://www.xs4all.nl/~jfeelder/voodoousers/trouble3500.html

The basic problem with Voodoo3 3500/TV and WinXP is, that not many people have this Card in the first place, and even fewer run it under WinXP...

That drastically reduces the number of Users that have the know-how to troubleshoot this combination :-/

As far as I know, there also used to be an alternative to VisualReality, that could be used as a substitute (thanks to 3dfx using the standard BT848 type Chips, than can be accessed via other Software as well). I'll have to look up the SoundForge Archives for that.
