VisualReality appears blank?
07.07.03 at 23:29:16

Ok, running
VisualReality
from a
v3 3500 TV-US
under WinXP Pro (3dfx Tools installed 1st try Shocked exactly as described in instructions for Jonathan Seidner's 3rd Party XP version!).
Visual Reality 3.10.06
appears to have installed flawlessly.

BUT:

No matter what channel I tune to, the screen appears blank!?!  When I first ran it, the screen was green.  Ok, I figured this was it's VCR-style blank screen (as opposed to showing static), but just in case, I tried the trick of hitting Freeze Frame twice.  Sure enough, the green went away and I had a black screen.  But it's black on every channel!

I've tried fine tuning up and down a full Mhz (IE for Ch4 from 67.250 down to 66.250 and up to 68.250) and no position seems to affect it at all.

I've tried tuning to Ch 3 with my VCR turned on, nothing (this works on my TV and is how I watch TV, using the VCR tuner).

I've tried connecting a composite video signal to the I/O Pod's RCA input, then hitting the "Remote's" Composite button (I'd prefer to use this anyway), nothing.

I've tried doing these things and then hitting the Freeze Frame button again, thinking perhaps I was stuck displaying the first black screen, nothing.

I do get my volume and Ch displays, just no picture...

(Grrr!) O o .

Am I missing something, or is there a software/driver issue I need to fix?

Hm, my experience unfortunately ends here, as I've never used this connector at all Sad

One Idea remains :

Did you try to connect other Devices, or use/try the TV Tuner ?

If the other connectors work (at least the TV Tuner), that would mean that the Software Part works correctly, and is not the Problem.

Yes, I've tried sending video in via the RCA connections.

I've BEEN trying to use the TV tuner and I get the blank screen, this is what I'm asking about.  Yes, I have a VCR sending on CH3 as well, but on or off, I get nothing.  This works with all my other equipment, the card just doesn't seem to be doing anything.

Suggestions?  I really want to get at least the TV tuner working.   ???

That's odd.

For as long as you have the correct TV Standard (in case of the US Drivers, US normed NTSC is required), it should work.

Otherwise, you could use some of the 3rd Party TV Applications existing (using the Card's BT848 Chip compatibility). Just search the Forum for Links.

If even these don't work, I'd recheck if the correct TV Standard is really used (or play around with the "Standard Select" Utility, which can modifiy those settings)

Yeah, I'm thinking the drivers are not there for the tuner, so no matter what software I use I'll get nothing, right?

It's DEFINITELY NOT a format issue.  I'm squarely in the middle of NTSC-land with an NTSC card and the settings won't let me select PAL or even any variation on NTSC anyway.
