Title: medal of honor/ voodoo 5
Post by guest on 30.12.02 at 00:03:44
Can anyone please help me with finding the right gl
driver that will work with medal of honor...I downloaded the lastest demo version of wickedgl and copied the opengl.dll file to my moh directory but it only made a
minor diff. when the game starts the screen is still
just a bunch of red lines basically.
any help would be greatly appreciated
my os is win98se with dx 8.1
Thx

Hm, that is odd...

I remember I ran Medal of Honor : Allied Assault with the default 1.04.00 Drivers.

It wasn't record breaking fast, but it worked, and was playable.

You can try replacing the (extremely old) 3dfxogl.dll, that ships with the Game, and replace it with a later release (not necessarily a WickedGL one, since the 3dfx ones mostly ran fine)...

Thx for your help, I did upgrade my drivers from the
ones that came with the voodoo card...they were the
last ones available from 3dfx before they went off-line
they are the 1.04.00 and I have not had any problems with other games like rtcw wich plays great. mohaa is the first game I have had problems with. I noticed in the
readme file that voodoo cards are not supported and
I heard that wicked gl  made it play good. I got my
wicked gl driver from FalconFly...it was the lastest one
but was a demo version... maybe I need to try some others ones. Also I was wondering what the ICD stands
for after the OpenGL files? are these third party drivers?
Well, I mostly just wanted to say thanks again for the help. Iam kinda new to this stuff and people like
yourselves are very helpful with your advise and the
links

Happy Holidays!

Remember the Problem is, that MoHAA has its own (obsolete) 3dfxgl.dll in it's Game Directory !

This needs to be replaced, if you want to affect it.

Otherwise, it seems that MoHAA ignores all System Drivers (including WickedGL), and uses the old Driver it finds first in its Game Directory...
