As daft as it may sound, I have never taken the advantage of, and used an S-Video port on ANY graphics card!
I've never tried it. Either because I have never needed to in the past, or just not had time to start learning how to use it.
I know the general aspects of S-Video are that the port will allow me to use a normal TV with an s-video connection, as a monitor for my PC. (I hope this is true!
)
Now has the time come when I need to start trying out this scenario.
If I was to get hold of a 3D accelerator (possibly a V1) or a 2D/3D card with an S-Video port on, could I simply connect it from my PC to TV and do away with my monitor? Would this work? ???
It's just that I have a TV and VHS in my room and a PC with a monitor, but I would like to get rid of the monitor as it's only a 14" ugly old beige thing.
Is it as simple to just connect the S-Video port to the TV from the graphics card and this will produce a replacement for my monitor?
What are the best cards to be looking at? I only need a cheap low-end card so I was looking at maybe acquiring a V1 with an S-Video port on (Canopus Pure3D, miroHiScore 3D).
Anyone know any better ones?
EDIT:
It has to be a PCI variant as it's for an old machine.
