I like the memory layout. That board is slightly smaller than the 5500 right?

Yeah the memory layout looks very neat on this card compaired to all the other cards I've seen, it's older companion the Voodoo5 5000 PCI, that one looks like it's from another world, that card is totally different in layout and length, it's 24.5cm like the Voodoo5 5500 AGP and PCI. Smiley

here the Voodoo5 cards and their lengths compared to a GeForce4 Ti4600
[The Ti4600 has a normal card length of today] Smiley

My Leadtek GeForce4 Ti4600 AGP x4 128MB DDR = 21.2cm long

3dfx Voodoo5 5000 AGP x4 32MB = 21.5cm long
3dfx Voodoo5 5500 AGP x2 64MB = 24.5cm long
3dfx Voodoo5 6000 AGP x2 128MB without extension bracket is 32.50cm long and with the extension bracket 35.5cm long!

Man that V6K dwarfs the V5K all the way in mem size and card size as well Lips Sealed

No problem Gamma742 Smiley I have the Voodoo5 5000 AGP x4, Voodoo5 5500 AGP x2 and the Voodoo5 6000 AGP x2 Smiley How would you like the shot?

So now I'm trying to find out what driver would be best for this card under Windows 2000 Pro.

The drivers that don't work are the following:

Original drivers that failed:
3dfx Voodoo4/5 V1.04.00

3rd Party Drivers that failed:
AmigaMerlin 3.0XP Final
SFFT Alpha 33 no support

As for x-3dfx 1.08.04b + Amiga Merlin 3.1 R11 combined as one driver I have a succes! in 2D so I'm very well on the way My friends!

The Card boots perfectly in 16, 256 Bit, 26 Bit as 32 Bit  colours to the windows desktop and the cards also boots perfectly with Bios 1.15.

So here my results for so far Smiley

at first I had this error many times Lips Sealed lol
...

and after removing that driver everything was back to normal, so if AmigaMerlin 3.1 R11 does work with some people under XP and X3dfx with some people under 98SE Smiley I came up with an idea that might be a sollution to all of us Voodoo5 5000 AGP and PCI users Smiley

At first I installed x-3dfx Voodoo4/5 1.08.014 beta I did get that error but I ignored it and rebooted after reboot I installed the AMigaMerlin 3.1 R11 driver installed the Voodoo5 5000 AGP x4 as "AMIGAMERLIN 3.1 R11 For Napalm " and rebooted and this is what happened, abosultely remarkeble it works in a combined state lads YeaH! Grin Grin Grin Grin

here the Voodoo5 5000 AGP x4 installed as Napalm on the EIZO T662 20" CRT Smiley
...

and here the FSAA x4 setting.
...

and as you can all see the combination of both drivers is clearly visable!

As far as now 3D is not working in Windows 2000 Pro + SP4, 2D is working like a charm, though the OpenGL screensavers from Win2K Pro are working and they are 3D, which is odd. ANyways I think Windows 98SE is the prefered OS for the Voodoo5 5000's the card is just very Beta and I just can't get 3D to work in Win2K Pro+ SP4 and XP Pro +SP2 but 98SE has no problems at all, as do all other Voodoo5 5000 AGP and PCI cards.

If anywone does have an idea for my Voodoo5 5000 AGP x4 to work under 2K Pro Please let me know.

Use the last non-beta 3dfx drivers under Win98.

Well after installing those I rebooted and I get a black screen, so they arn't working wither Undecided

oh well maybe my card has conflicts or so, still odd that it worked in 2K in such a mixed driver mode.

I'll give the latest x3dfx drivers a shot and see what happens, I'll keep you updated.

Update

and again the black screen, Oh well I think I'll install 2K again, this is getting me nowhere, thanx for the help though.

I don't know why I get a black screen and that my system hangs imediet when the Black screen comes, does anybody know what that may be?

@Obi,
Try with the original 3Dfx driver. It worked very well for me -Everything perfect in 2D/3D mode.
Perhaps, You will need a fresh installing (Win98SE)  if you have installed many 3Dfx drivers.

Hm I have started with the orginal 3dfx driver that is the problem it started there, after installing the latest original 3dfx driver the card was installed as 3dfx Voodoo series well after that system rebooted and I recieved a nice dark black screen and a crash right after that, so I went to safe mode and removed that driver and went on with the latest Beta driver from 3dfx also a nogo and then after removing that one the latest x-3dfx driver, but still the same problem

So I'm going back to Win2K Pro for V6K gaming with AM3.1R11 and I am willing to give the V5K another shot in 2K by adding the Voodoo5 5000 AGP in the inf file and then after that save the file and install the card and hopefully that will work.

But Hey I'm not sad or mad or so hehe, this card still makes me very happy to have and hey it did show some proof of opperation right!! Let's stay possitive there Smiley

oh well I'll just stick to Win2K Pro It's just my favourite OS  and that system was meant for the V6K anyways, and I did a nice 7 hour V6K test run today with Tactical Ops @ 1024 x 768 x32 with FSAA x4 and x8 no problems there It was a smooth ride all the way after that some Red Alert2  and some Films and still no crashes so it's not the system that causes the problems I think the V5K is too unstable and it's a prototype with a Rev.A0 PCB so it may not be wierd at all things like this can happen.

Well it seems to be that my Voodoo5 5000 AGP x4 32MB Rev.A0 3700 has a broken SLI and this card used to be from BOingball before Oscar had it Smiley anyways it might have been one of the first Voodoo5 5000 AGP x4's ever made since that other 5000 AGP x4's do work , I suppose the first ones were less stable in main flight.

Anyways thanx to all that helped me out here anyways @ least I did play Red Alert2 on it , but even that wasn't a great ride after an hour the V5K crashed.

UPDATE Jedi's!!!!!

Man there is finally some light at the end of the tunnel Smiley
Now I have the Voodoo5 5000 AGP x4 in another system with  an ASUS A7V333-R Rev.1.04 mobo I used Amigamerlin3.1 R11 as the driver and KoolSmokey's Voodoo Control for the tools Smiley I have added this line in the .inf file in the AM 3.1 R11 driver path:

AMIGAMERLIN 3.1-R11 For Voodoo 5 5000 AGP" = 3dfxvsv5,PCI\VEN_121A&DEV_0009&SUBSYS_0006121A&REV01 AGP SG 166 NOTV NOLCD (AGP V5 5000)

and there by installed the Voodoo5 5000 AGP x4 manually and by installing it as AMIGAMERLIN 3.1-R11 For Voodoo 5 5000 AGP !!! and yes that worked with errors this time! thanx to the people @ 3dfxzone.it for this great note!

The after reboot no funny black screen and after that I started up V.Controll well the card runs default @ 166Mhz like all other 5500 and 6000 cards normally would except some Intel and A3 cards but hey it's working Smiley

So Thandor gave m,e  the idea to try this on the my other AThlonXP system and Nightbird from 3dfxzone.it gave the idea for that extra line to add that manually in the AM3.1 R11 .inf file and I had the idea to use the 5000 AGP x4 in Single chip mode Cheesy and yes I got the 3dfx Donut working!! this is great under XP Pro + SP2 but in Dual chip mode no 3D Acceleration but just a black screen so that means this is the card with the broken SLI and yes this card was once from BOingball he told me that he had this card so he was right about the whole broken SLI thing afterall Smiley

So here some screenshots , they seem somewhat dark but ingame it's much lighter Smiley

Here the famous Menu of Unreal looks nice Smiley
...

and here an ingame shot Level 2 Smiley
...

Anyways after all this work I never had the idea I would get it working in XP heh oh well now to find out how and if it can be repaired for SLI finction if there are people that may know how to find this out or are willing to repair it if there is a way, I'm not sure if a Broken SLI can BE repaired in the first place , but then again I am willing to hear you all out.

Got some better news my friends!!!

First I installed 98SE on my Other AthlonXP system and I used the latest 3dfx WHQL driver and 2D is like a miracle Smiley

CTX 1569 on 3dfx Voodoo5 5000 AGP  in 98SE Cheesy

So both VSA-100's do run at 166mhz I really never knew that I had like 143Mhz in mind like that the 5000 would of been the budget model of the Voodoo5  familly.

But thanx for your tip I will keep that in mind, now Gary did say that this great card will work with the latest original WHQL driver from 3dfx Interactive so that is what I've done.

here my Voodoo5 5000 AGP x4 rig:

AMD AthlonXP Barton 2600+
ASUS A7V333-R Rev.1.04  VIA KT-333 chipset Bios 1017
1x Kingston Value Ram PC-3200 @ PC-2700
3dfx Voodoo5 5000 AGP x4 32MB Rev.A0 3700 with 6ns Samsung SGRAM
1x Seagate Barracuda III 30GB 7200 rpm

Win98SE + UnOfficial Service Pack 2.03 NL
3dfx 1.08.0.14 WHQL Drivers

So now I will continue installing this rig and I will keep you all updated!
