Title: V5 and newer motherboads
Post by jandarsun8 on 30.04.03 at 07:37:03
Just wondering if anyone's had issues getting a newer motherboard. My V5 is sitting in a shuttle AK31 Ver 2.0 with a 1900+ chip in it and working just fine, but I'm wondering if this will be the last board that this card goes in, ever. Reason for this, is when I built my other system, I had Kyro II card I was going to put in it. It's a cheaper mother board, Biostar board running VIA's KT400 chipset with 8X. However the AGP slot is rated for 1.5 Volts only. With the Kyro in it, it wouldn't even boot. No fans, no anything. So reason being, would the V5 work in this board and any new boards running the KT400 chipset? Probably not. I haven't tried it yet, but I'm under the impression that it's not going to work.

With everything moving to faster chipsets and DDR, I'm thinking that my 1900+ will probably be the fastest CPU to team up with my V5.

Has anyone else had this problem or is just that specific motherboard and I shouldn't be worring about this.

With AGP you may have problems, but I have a V5 5500 PCI in my Asus A7N8X Deluxe running just fine. :)
