Title: Interstate '76 Crashes in 3DFX mode.
Post by Tim on 23.11.08 at 14:37:50
I patched the game to the Gold version, which adds glide, PowerVR and Rendition support.

But when I'm playing for a while I get this error, which crashes my system, it says something like Mipmap error, cannot span 2Mb. Normal Direct3D option runs fine, but whenever I select 3DFX, it crashes after a couple of minutes. Also, when I go in car, and I look to the side (shooting with the handheld) everything turns to black and white, and when I press esc to the menu, and then go back, it's normal again.

I will write the error down properly in a minute.

System I'm using :

PII 300Mhz
Soyo SY-6BA+ III
2x256 Ram
Creative Voodoo II
Windows 95, and Directx 7 installed.

Tried different drivers, from driver CD to latest reference drivers.
Tried updating Directx 6 to 7 (thought that might help)

But no go, any idea what is going on? Bug in the game perhaps?

Thanks

I would try limiting the memory to 2MB (in the v2 settings panel)..

I tried that registry link, and the game works very well now. :)

I still get some weird corruption now and then.

I will try the settings panel. What exactly does that mean? Limiting the memory to 2Mb?

Telling the drivers that the software can only use 2MB. sorta.
