agp2pci-doesn't work?
11.11.09 at 22:50:23
got my hands on this little thing a couple of days ago.the trouble is,seems like I can't get it working no matter what..the fans (v5 5500agp+agp2pci) spin up,the card warms up as usual, but there is no video output (when using it as primary),and the card is not detected by xp either (when used as secondary)..agp2pci is set to use pci power, its molex connector is not connected (I was told that this is the proper way of using it).I have tried v3,v5 and r9200,all with the same result.
any ideas?

Why were you advised to not use the Molex connector? I would think you would need to use it to get the card to work.

I have seen it working that way a couple of years ago-agp2pci with v5 6000,running on nforce2 chipset, the power was provided via the internal hookup connector on the 6000,nothing else-I'm told that the previous owners have been using the adaptor this way as well.
if you can confirm that using the agp2pci molex is the way to go,I'll be more than happy to try it..

Ok, I am seeing that you are correct.
I saw this post, it may help:

tried all inits, still no go,seems like kt333 chipset (epox 8k3a+) is not compatible..I will try it on my 939dual later.too bad I don't have any nforce based mobos right now.
edit: 939dual is a no go as well..might try to just
sell it

The agp2pci works ok. Just you must find a right motherboard. The problem comes with IRQ Conflict. Check your motherboard bios and try to find something like:
Advanced PCI/PNP settings:
* Allocate IRQ to PCI VGA.

Oscar.

I do have something like that (assign irq to vga) on the epox board, but I had it enabled..I will check out the 939dual as well.
so this should be a matter of finding a compatible motherboard,do I understand it correctly?

I also found that this adapter doesn't works well with just any motherboard for instance a on a MPX2466 the card I was testing would not display a image on screen. While on a more recent motherboard Asus P5WDG2 WS Pro in a PCI-X slot it worked without issues using the KSmoky driver set.
So I do believe that in your case you may also need to find a confirmed working motherboard with this adapter.
good luck,

I do not think so
. Hydra bridge can manage only nVIDIA and ATi cards, or at least, PCIe cards, not PCI-X like Voodoo5
