3dHQ V1.09.00 Beta6 online

Since I know many are eager to test, those are going online as I write this...

To my understanding, it is useful for the Voodoo3 to Voodoo5 range (I don't know for sure though) , although emphasis is probably on Voodoo4/5.

And Windows 2000 and XP only.

Apparently DirectX 8.1b update is vital.  Instructions for installing are apparently critical to the proper functioning of these drivers.

Quote:
1. install service pack 1
2. remove the 3dfxvs entry in the registry
3. install directx8.1 redist
4. install driver
5. enjoy

The driver team are also stressing that these are still beta and they would appreciate feedback.

Well, looks like I have to add above critical points to the File, otherwise people will go haywire over it Grin

I also just looked at the contained ReadMe, and found this :

Upgrade Existing Voodoo Drivers
--------------------------------
1) Start Windows 9x/ ME
Roll Eyes

Well, still Beta; with the added steps, should work out better I hope.

Well, it's my first post here so I woul'd like to compliment all of you for keeping this site.
Now, one question: There are also new (11/12/02) self-stracting Beta5
drivers, all flavors, at www.voodoofiles.com. ; What are the diferences between them and the Beta6 ?  If is there any.
         Best regards!

Well...

The Beta6 is the only one I know to be released under the 3dHQ logo.

All other "Variants" are likely spin-off's, possibly using earlier Beta components, or are simply re-mixed by 3rd party.

Of course, feel free to test those, but remember everything that goes by voodoofiles is completely untested and unconfirmed Roll Eyes

All right, so there wasn't an "retail" Beta5 ?

Thanks!
