Title: New driver
Post by 74p54 on 19.06.03 at 12:21:46
I found this in voodoofiles...
Beyond Dreams 3dfx enhanced driver:

Quote:
Beyond Dreams has launched a 3dfx driver for some time (3dfx enhanced NFS3,4,5 driver), and it is available on Voodoofiles for download. We were wondering whenever you have chcked the driver, and what do you think about it.
At our website, www.bdreams.012webpages.com, we are having another good improvement for you, 3dfx fans. Also, we are releasing a magazine on this Friday (20 june) that might endorse some interesting facts for you, on (take a guess...) 3dfx...
What we want at most, is that you should become involved in the making of future enhanced driver and in the activity that Beyond Dreams is having (that is quite various).

Quote:
This package is mainly designed for Voodoo2, Voodoo Banshee, and Voodoo3 cards. It might also improve quality on a Voodoo4 or 5, although we haven't tested on this board. It also improves the overall quality in Direct3D and OpenGL games. Instructions are found on the text shipped in the archive. This solution has been produced by Beyond Dreams software development division. Visit us at: www.bdreams.012webpages.com. For any question or opinion on these drivers and to ask anything for a future product, we are waiting for your messages in our 3dfx dedicated section of our forum. Enter the forum, go to general board and enter the "3dfx dedicated discussion forums". We also have any interesting things available for you. Check our messages on the forum and on the website...

So how good is this and has anyone tested it yet ???

Just check in the Off-Topic Area, and you'll find the original Posting/Introduction ;)

Basically these are (last time I checked) very specialized/selected Driver Core Files, bundeled with optimized Registry settings for their purpose.

While not found suitable for the Archive (they are too specialized, and not complete, general purpose Drivers), I myself recommended VoodooFiles as an address to publish them.
And the way it looks like, people took interest in them, and it seems to work out fine :)

it's amazing to see a driver specialized on only one game (well, 3 but it's the same engine)

too bad, NFS5 is already perfect on my voodoo5

I'd love to get a  Half-Life 2 enhanced driver :)

BTW this reminds me of a certain vendor who wrote a  3DMark 03 enhanced driver  :D , but not for improving the gaming experience. .

Mind one little question... It's d3d you are using on NFS5? Perhaps yes, since this is the only option NORMALLY available on almost every 3dfx Voodoo card (except the RUSH). Would you like to use glide instead?
Also, on other NFS games (NFS3,4) you might never seen the best quality even in glide...
