Post by Maverick-DBZ- on 06.08.04 at 02:33:55
I have a MS-6168 motherboard with an onboard 3dfx Voodoo 3 2000 with 8mb onboard video memory.

I did a search on it and found another motherboard with a onboard 3dfx chip.

Anyclues on it?

AFAIK these mobos have 3dfx onboard

MSI MS-6168
A-Trend ATC-6253M
A-Trend ATC-6254M
A-Trend ATC-6264M
Gigabyte GA-6BXM

the Asus P3B-V was never build...but it should have also a 3dfx chip onboard...

the only mobo i saw is the msi...it could be that the other mobos were never build...

Yeah I'm glad I have one too, but it doesn't work due to poor shipping and packaging from the seller I bought it from. A few of the pins on one of the ram chips got cut off and I don't have the skill to reconnect them.

I agree in that I believe those A-Trend boards do have the onboard voodoo chipsets on them.  If not those 3 (I didn't do a search on the serials provided) there are definetely some, as 3dfx pulled a marketing strategy with A-Trend at the same time as letting them produce boards such as the Helios 3D V1 and Rush.

However, as to whether these mobos were finally produced and sold, is another matter. ;)

@Maverick-DBZ- : - Just to let you know that there is NO WAY you could repair that RAM chip on your 3Dfx mainboard... :'(

It would require the chip to be replaced with similar memory (same MB size, pinout, speed - preferably same brand). :o

I could probably do the work if someone could find a dead 'donor' card with RAM that was the same... ;)

Either way you have nothing to lose! :D

Thought I'd let you know...for what it's worth! :P

That would be great paulpsomiadis! I'll see if I can find that exact same chip. There maybe hope after all. 8) I think one of my cards has that exact same chip. I'll see if I can find it.

WHOA! :o

But DON'T sacrifice a working Voodoo card just for the mainboard!!! :P

Preferably an nVidia card or something else...(would bee cool to KILL an nVidia card to fix your mainboard!) ::) ;D

Mwahahaha! (EVIL laugh) ;D 8)

Lol you're crazy paul :p

Yah, I know it's a pain in the A$$ to find this kind of RAM nowadays @DenisF... ::)

I 'did' find a Banshee on eBay the other day that had EXACTLY the same RAM on it (all details, size, brand, speed, etc...) :P

But like I said - it's another 3Dfx card, so I'll not NUKE it to fix a 3Dfx mainboard! ;)

It's gonna take me awhile to track down that ram, but I'm in no hurry. I will find it!  :D
