Title: Somebody knows this card?
Post by osckhar on 01.03.05 at 12:02:27
Hi,

V4 4500 SHAPED-L PROTOTYPE. Card boots like a V4 4800

http://www.3dfx.ch/gallery/albums/album59/v4_4500_SHPPED_L_called_4800.jpg

Check top the card, next to fan. There is a JUMPER. What utility will have it?

Regards,
Oscar

Edit- Oscar is it possible to size the card picture down a bit?

Gary has the conventional V4 4500 SHAPED-L from Powecolor.

Sets the card in VGA or Multimedia mode.

The question that comes to mind now is;
What the hell is multimedia mode? ???

From what I understand (and this could very well be wrong so take it for what you will) the jumper "identifies" the board to the bios or windows as a VGA device or a Multimedia device on start up.

When a computer with a Voodoo II boots up the bios "hardware display screen" identifies it as a "multimedia device" you have to look quick but almost all PC's have this screen that shows devices on the bus, vender ID and resources used before your OS starts loading.

I'm thinking for one reason or another this jumper is either left over from the secondary display days or there is some reason you would like a board NOT handled as the primary VGA display.

Don't know, you would have to ask a driver tech maybe.
