Title: [S] Various 3dfx - November 2008 Sale
Post by FalconFly on 09.11.08 at 22:18:30

Current Termination : Auction has ended
Highest bids :
Item 1 : exxe, 99,99 Euro
Item 2 : razrx, 45 Euro
Item 3 : N/A
Item 4 : exxe, 5 Euro
Item 5 : NitroX infinity, 100 Euro

Here we go again, a November Sale :)

End of Sale : Sunday, 16 Nov 2008 1800L (1700 Z/GMT) or last bid +5 Minutes
(if you have questions about how this termination works, please ask to get it explained, it's very simple)

As usual, all transactions come with full money-back warranty if the buyer is not happy with the item.

To keep things simple : all prices have to be exclusive shipping costs (keep those in mind, Germany has expensive shipping prices!).
See bottom of Post to see international shipping prices and notes.

Item 1 : VoodooTV 200 Prototype

While most Collectors got the typical 3dfx Cards (3D Accelerators), only relatively few have VoodooTV Boards.
And guess what, who do you know that has a PreProduction VoodooTV series card ?
Despite having literally hundreds of cards going through my hands during all those years, this A0 Revision PCB is and remains the only one I ever had...
Well, this is your chance to get hold of one.

PCB Date : 1400 (assumed by mirrored print on PCB)

Working condition : unknown (traditionally I have never powered up a Prototype)

Item 2 : Mac Voodoo5 5500 PCI w/ DVI (bulk)

http://www.falconfly.de/img/preview_Mac_V5-1.jpghttp://www.falconfly.de/img/preview_Mac_V5-2.jpg
(click on thumbnail for HighRes Image)

As promised and requested, a Mac Voodoo5 (unfortunately I found out I don't have a Retail one anymore).
Still, a good add-on to any collection and allows operation in a PC with DVI output (PC BIOS flash required, current BIOS installed unknown) and remains an evergreen among 3dfx wish-lists :)

PCB Date : 2900

Working condition : sold as working (unable to test due to lack of suitable platform)

Item 3 : VillageTronic MP750 (Mac Banshee)

http://www.falconfly.de/img/preview_VillageTronic_MP850-1.jpghttp://www.falconfly.de/img/preview_VillageTronic_MP850-2.jpg

(click on thumbnail for HighRes Image & sorry for dusty Pics, Card was on open Display)

Yes, Games were played on the Apple Mac as well and 3dfx was into the game.
This card was a pretty lucky find already back in time, as those weren't sold in large numbers in the first place.
Together with the somewhat untypical red bracket and chip Cooler, cards like this one make the small difference between 3dfx collections :)

PCB Date : 4498

Working condition : unknown (unable to test due to lack of suitable platform)

Starting Price : 10 Euro

Item 4 : ColorMAX Voodoo1, Retail

http://www.falconfly.de/img/preview_ColorMax_Voodoo1-1.jpghttp://www.falconfly.de/img/preview_ColorMax_Voodoo1-2.jpg
http://www.falconfly.de/img/preview_ColorMax_Voodoo1-3.jpghttp://www.falconfly.de/img/preview_ColorMax_Voodoo1-4.jpg
(click on thumbnail for HighRes Image)

One of the more seldom seen Retail packages and considering its age in superb condition (both Retail Box and Card).
Loopthrough cable didn't make it into the image but is included of course.
Nothing spectacular but doesn't come along easy in complete state and in such condition :)

PCB Date : 3698

Working condition : sold as working

Item 5 : Canopus Pure3D II, Retail

http://www.falconfly.de/img/preview_Canopus_Pure3DII-1.jpghttp://www.falconfly.de/img/preview_Canopus_Pure3DII-2.jpg

(click on thumbnail for HighRes Image)

Another Retail that many 3dfx'lers know, what possibly takes this one over the rest is its absolute completeness. Box comes with every single item (hardware, cables, bundled Software), nothing missing and even includes a Canopus bezel sticker...
Box and hardware in very good condition (card looks brand new), making it a very nice addition to any 3dfx collection.

PCB Date : 2198

Working condition : sold as working

International Shipping prices (DHL Postal Services, Germany)

Code:
Destination     Parcel    Insured Package
Germany             3,90€           6,40€
Europe             8,60€          17,00€ !
Worldwide      12,90€          32,00€ !!
Allow for 14 days ground shipping for Europe and bare in mind international ground shipping will take a long time; Air Mail will just about cost a vital organ :P
(conditions permitting and depending on sales price, I may upgrade the shipping type free of charge for buyer's safety and convinience)

A question: How does your termination work?

Title: Re: [S] Various 3dfx - November 2008 Sale
Post by FalconFly on 11.11.08 at 12:02:39
Very easy, here's how it works :

Deadline is 1700Z or last bid +5 min

Scenario 1 (unlikely) :
Last bid (entire Auction) = 1500Z
Auction end = 1700Z, as scheduled

Scenario 2 (more likely) :
1635Z a bid is placed => auction end 1700Z
1650Z a bid is placed => auction end 1700Z
1654Z a bid is placed => auction end 1700Z
1658Z a bid is placed => 1658Z +5min = new auction end 1703Z
1701Z a bid is placed => 1701Z +5min = new auction end 1706Z
1705Z a bid is placed => 1705Z +5min = new auction end 1710Z
1710Z auction terminates

--------------------
Just add 5 Minutes onto the last bid (timestamp of posting), if the posting time +5min does not exceed the original Auciton End, it still ends on time (no extension).
If it exceeds the Auction end, this will be the new termination as shown above.

Reason for chosing this method :
When working on a fixed time, bidders are challenged to perfectly sync their time with the Forum Server's time in order not to miss the deadline by a few seconds.
We'd also see alot of Sniping and people who'd give (at time of their writing) a suitable bid that however may turn out to be too low just because others gave theirs as well in the last seconds - with no time to react anymore.

Now, people can refresh the Forum pages, find they have been beaten and have 5 Minutes to consider to either quit or increase their offer. All without much stress.
Additionally, I can use the time to create a top Posting Highest Bid overview, in order to give everyone a convinient overview. Without them bidders would have to scan through many postings searching if they have been beaten and by how much, again leaving little or no time to react and we'd likely see bidding errors (people posting their bid in good faith that they make it top bidder for an item but overlooked an already higher bid).

Still makes for good race and so far never lenghtended the auction unreasonably.

You'll also find the current Auction end in the Top posting, once the extension comes into effect, so you have all highest bids and the current termination conviniently listed there. (as I manage the auction, I keep those up to speed and edit all changes into it ASAP)

Thankfully! There's a bunch of interesting stuff on eBay too, and quite frankly, multiple auctions is a bit too much of a strain on the wallet ;D

Nothing bad though, I got what I wanted from your auctions :)
