Title: quad GPU cards ? Post by m14radu on 30.09.07 at 08:05:20
Yesterday i find an interesting VGA card, a matrox G200 quad GPU card. I buy it immediatelly - o f course.
It was a surprize for me to see another card with 4 GPU on it. It's the second card that i own and know to have 4 GPU. Exist other card with 4 GPU ? ( that appears in the same time with 3dfx cards .. ) The G200 quad have 4 GPU , each one with 8 Mb ram. Unfortunately, the GPU's are there for controlling 4 Monitors, and not for working together like on V5 6000 chip. |

I think these old ones aren't "true" 4 GPU Cards though - e.g. all Chips are completely separate entities and can just drive one independent Framebuffer & VGA output each.
That way they simply save the burden of placing 4 different VGA Cards into the System but don't cooperate (as SLI/AFR or alike). Still, they make for impressive Collector Items and must have cost a fortune at their release times :) |
