I tried to run NFSHP2 with my Banshee, some time ago, and the same problem. It shows a screen like: Program tried to access a memory adress... My conclusion: might be the multitexturing. Always a thing to remember when running Dx8 games.

If you're an XP user, try with this:
;) www.bansheexp.cjb.net I can play NFSHP2, but is ranked as "almost playable"... Textures are not ok. :-/ |

Hi !
Don't worry NFS Hot Pursuit 2 Demo works on my system AMD K6-2 500 SOYO 5EHM (VIA MVP3) 1M cache 256M SDRAM PC133 Guillemot Maxi Gamer Phoenix PCI (Voodoo Banshee) Windows 98 I'm using 3dfx reference driver 4.12.01.1157 from release 1.03.00/1.03.04. Don't use driver 4.12.01.1222 from release 1.04.00, there are too many bugs. 3DMark2000 shows one bug : the test of Fill Rate Multi-Texturing doesn't work ! But in 3DMark2001 the test works OK ??? Download them on http://www.falconfly.de/banshee.htm Regards |

Download them on http://www.falconfly.de/banshee.htm If the V3s are "tweaked" Banshees and you can play HP2 Demo with a Banshee, than it´s possible to play it with a Voodoo3, is it right ? In fact I manage to get into the game , but with many texture faults. like white cars, and road textures missing, not to menssion the all white wheels. How can I tranfer the Banshee solution to a V3 ? Thanks in advance! |

I have also texture errors ! Thank you 3dfx for Banshee Bad Support >:(
So even with the latest V3 drivers, there are still graphic bugs :( |

i ran the demo with my V3 3k and the 3dfx drivers 1.07.00 whql Seems that an ONLY parameter prevents the cars to be coloured : - GRAPHICS SETTINGS -> CAR DETAILS -> MINI, absolutely otherwise the cars will be always white about the wheels : white and you don't see the rims but i wonder if 3DAnalyzer would not be able to help a little with some options [/quote] I have not tried 3DA with HP2, but I´ll make it. By the way, MotoGP2 has a great graphic complexity, I guess, but runs quit well here with Geometry Assist eneabled. How to explain? |
Title: Not only Banshee problems Post by Boiu_Andrei on 11.08.03 at 09:16:34
The big question is: might the Banshee run Unreal Tournament 2003, with 1.03.00? If yes, then it would be strange why not to run Blood Rayne (which obviously don't run on non-TnL cards, and if it runs (3D Analyze), it runs with big problems).
More, in Hot Pursuit 2, the Banshee isn't the only video card that can't run the game with a normal look: the entire S3 Savage 4/ProSavageDDR, along with Savage 2000 seem to have serious problems with the texture placing. While it is strange, is that it's not related to texture format (the newer Savage have Dxt compression), and is not related to Tnl (the newer have Tnl, but not a spectacular one). What might be the cause of the problem could be a sort of 3 or 4 textures to be processed per pass (which noone can), or a sort of special textures placement. Questions, Questions... |

just fyi, this game doesnt run perfect on my system:
Windows 98SE,XP Athlon XP 1800+ MSI K7T266Pro2-A 768MB 2700 DDR RAM Voodoo 5 5500 w/AM3.0 it may work on the Banshee, but u can't really expect it to be perfect, although a little color is to be expected. ArroWHeaD, u really shouldn't be dissing other people's systems, one of these days your system will be just as outdated |

Banshee might work on HP2 with driver set 1.03.00, since with 1.04 there are already many other compatibility issues on Windows 9x.
Even so, HP2 might be poorly designed, since not only 3dfx cards who have generally the lowest number of problems with games in general, but also S3 based cards (Savage4, Savage2000), are having serious problems with running the game. |
