Need help, screwed up two electronic tracks!
31.03.06 at 16:17:51

...

The picture says it all. I thought scraping hard wouldn't remove the tracks, but I think I shouldn't have scraped that hard! Is there a way to connect the two tracks together? Maybe some sort of pencil or paste or whatever? I'm so dumb about electronics, I'm sure some of you guys here know how to fix it. I just hope it's not so bad!

And, BTW, is there a better way to clean the tracks, since they're all black and alcohol @ 94% doens't do much unless I scrape... and NO, I won't scrape on that again.

No, it's some sort of plastic flat cable with tracks on it, to send signals from a Videopac keyboard to the mainboard! And the tracks there are like made of some thin metallic paste or something.

Go to the local auto parts store and get the rear window defroster repair kit for around 5$.

Works great Grin

Totally right, now that I think of it, it's the same sort of thing you can scrape off.

How about a silver conductive pen? Will it work too?

chances are a conductive pen will work as well...

1. Mask off the areas to the left and right of the first broken track.

2. Make sure you have a good 'flow' of 'ink' from the conductive pen (press it on newspaper till you see silver 'stuff').

3. Draw on the broken section of track with your pen.

4. Leave to dry for 1 hour.

5. Repeat steps with other track.

...and that's that!

Thanks a lot, I'll go buy one in some hours and do like you suggest.

As for cleaning all the crap on the already present tracks? Some parts are really black, and some really clean; the difference is clearly visible and may have effects on the flow...

Hmm...hope it works!

Oh, and you don't actually NEED to clean them in the first place...

...if it ain't broke - don't fix it!

But I love cleaning things...

Grin

I won't be able to test it, since I'm missing the power supply. But as soon as I'll get one, I'll do it.
