Title: Found a site with a Voodoo 4 4500 64Mb on it?
Post by Tim on 13.12.09 at 15:16:28
I just came across this card on a Chinese collector site, isn't that a strange card, I had no idea they were made in 64Mb because it does not seem like a prototype. Opinions please.

That card got common HY57V653220B RAM chip (every chip is 8MB each). So it is a "common" V4 4500 32MB PCI, but the guy states that card displays 64MB like V5, for this reason he guess error printing on chip. I would say that error printing is not possible.

I do not what think about that. There is a bit of confusion on that page. The guy say that RAM chip are HY57V653220B 9917A TC-56, while pics shown TC-60 RAM chip (6ns, not 5.6ns....ops! Hynix/Hyundai never produced 5.6ns but 5.4ns instead...).

Furthermore It seems there is a bit of confusion on memory size also; when he say:

Quote:
65 on behalf of capacity (65 = 64MB)

65 does not mean 64MB, where MB usually stands for MegaByte. We are speaking of 64M, where M stands for Mega, 64 million words or 64Mb (Megabit) that are 8 MegaByte.

Hmm yea, very strange. Why does it say 64MB though? It seems like the normal Bios as well. Also the 3DMark01 scores seem to add up.

This card is missing R536, that is used for hardware strapping of installed memory size. See here:

Please compare:

The last pic is of the card in question and the first is my guide for DIY.
It this strapping config, the card will display 64Mb of installed RAM, but it is just cosmetics, nothing else.
I guess it was an accident when the card lost it's R536 and the owner knows nothing of it...
