@hutze: an incompatibility between the tyan board ( mpx chipset ) and the v56k could cause the damage on the v56k  ?
Are another cases like your known ?  Same platform or another ?

I take a quick look on my 3700A revision, and i have only one diode !

Indeed, great news, it would be very bad if that card couldn't be revided. Also, I noticed the 3dmark info that states v5 6000 *PCI* .  Grin

thats just cosmetic,and actually fixed in most 3rdparty drivers.

Broken was...

Well, here the card in the old condition:

Resistor "R19"
I had an appointment at a printed board/smd assembly firm, where they brazed with my guidance the card.

I have let them build a new power connector too:

But all that didn't solve all problems at all. I could solve the biggest problem with WinME. Only now with WinME I can have perfect software support!

My V56K has failed.
The three coils are fallen off, because the solder points are broken.
Previously the card runs unreliable and it was depending on it's temperature.
The card only runs, when it was quite warm.
The temperature sensitivity and the broken solderpoints are matching
together. So the reason for the unrelialbility could be the small cracks
in the tin.
In the next day we will remove the old tin, applying new tin and soldering on the coils.

My V56K is broken despite to all attempts and it appears to be for ever.
Two professionals did what they could, they even used a reflow machine... still it doesn't work.
to day : no vga beep no Screen .....


There are two supposable options:
1. One VSA100 is defective.
2. One of the lower layers is fractured.

I'm sorry to hear that about your v5 6K. It's sad when a video card (particuarly a rare one) dies. At least you still have it as it's still a collectors item  Wink
