I can remember when Abit boards were the king.  My first custom system was based on the BH6.  I was running a slot 1 Celeron 300A @450mhz, Matrox Mil2 AGP, dual Creative Labs 12MB Voodoo 2s.  Also had an ISA AWE64 Gold and a huge 8 GB HDD. Man, those were the good old days.

It's a shame they declined the way they did and then were shut down by their parent company.  Everything I've read indicates the real talent left the company years before they closed, so it was really just a shell of it's former glory.  It was really sad for me to see them disappear.  Honorable mention goes to SOYO as well.  They had a few good years where they made decent enthusiast mainboards.  I think they ended life around the same time as ABIT, only selling crappy defective LCD TVs.

:'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(
