honestly I would think amigamerlin will have at least a last card for sale
he did offer me one pre-production type V5 6000 for 850 Euros, too bad the deal didnt come true with us because he didn't quite get back to me on it no follow ups and such. so I decided to get a regular Rev 3700 A instead. better for the wallet too. |

but I think he figured I wasn't serious perhaps. |

i think it is a good way to get that from ebay! do you know how much voodoo5 6000 exist now i mean the total number released from 3dfx is about 50 and how much they left which can work as usual. i think some voodoo5 6k might be dead caused of accidents or sth else......better to know all the v5 6k are still living. :) |
Title: Re: where i can find voodoo5 6000 Post by Chosen_One on 06.05.05 at 12:33:40
use the edit-button please...
and i guess the number of released v5 6000 (functional & dead cards) is about 150... |

I wish I knew were the number 50-100 came from because it is so ridiculous when you consider how many 3dfx showed to press, hardware reviewers and how many are in private hands now.
Hank from 3dfx stated on a post on the V5-6000 board- "From the most i've heard there were only one batch (maybe 100+) of the intels made. This was for promo mainly. Rev2 im not sure. Rev3's were several hundred, but a lot of them were flawed. The final revisions are the best and several hundered of those exist as well. Again, this is to the best of my knowledge." |

No TM30 is right. I did get a bit carried away. TM30 I was looking at your collection yesterday it is very impressive. I wish you would have gotten my Q3D Mercury System away from Patience. It's ashame how everyone knelt down before her and let her have it. I sure took a beating on that one. @edmundoad Quote:
No that plate is off of an old PCI ATI card. It's just a poser, it really won't work, it's close but it doesn't seat all the way down into the AGP slot. I wanted to take a picture of how the card will look when I find a dead 5500 on ebay to steal the plate from. |
Title: Re: where i can find voodoo5 6000 Post by edmundoab on 08.05.05 at 08:34:33
very nice work gamma.
how did you get the rear brackets for the SBs..? looks cool to have em on. haha ;D |
Title: Re: where i can find voodoo5 6000 Post by frank-bao on 08.05.05 at 14:07:43
does voodoo5 6000 have a actual plate when released from 3dfx?
i saw many cards with plate which are used in workstations ,like 3dlabs wildcat seriers, intense3d etc. but it is nice looking to add on v5 6k..... |
Title: Re: where i can find voodoo5 6000 Post by omega_supreme on 08.05.05 at 14:38:59
Some people have it but only very few. Edmund for example has one and Guenter also. I'm not sure if the brackets where made for the v5 6000. Its actually a v5 5500 bracket with a "TV-OUT hole" (I think) where the voodoo volts connector is located.
Many of the v5 6000 cards that where present at ECTS2000 and other shows have this bracket. Obviously because they needed to look at best. So if your lucky enought to get one of the "show"-cards you would have the real bracket on. Some time ago I asked if it was possible to make a new one but just to start such a machine costs an insane amount. Best thing to do is to take one from a v5500 or 4500, the fit perfect. |
Title: Re: where i can find voodoo5 6000 Post by edmundoab on 08.05.05 at 14:46:51
I know my V5 6000 Rev 2600 has a bracket on it.

If you mean the Black plastic brackets, I have purchased or traded a few cards with them on. I think when I did the X-24 with optional fan swap with Chosen_One for his 100SB 4400 we both had brackets. I got another one off of a "bad" 100SB 4440. I managed to salvage the bracket and the 2 Shade cards, my nephew has the card as a mantel piece. Then most recently, I pick up a Digital Server 3000 that had one on the RAID 5 controller card. It is the same make and model number on it so I put it on the Voodoo 5 6000 (not shown). |

So it has a hole for the "Voodoo Volts" power supply? ;DSweet;D |
Title: Re: where i can find voodoo5 6000 Post by edmundoab on 09.05.05 at 08:57:44
yeah it does.
its the round port with 4 holes right? this one has a power supply rework done. but no "NOT FOR RESALE" sticker at all. using Hyundai TC-55 RAM does that stand for anything? like freq. perhaps? Don't know much about this Rev.2 card. I tried to talk to Tony Autrey about my card. But he didn't respond to all the info I gave him. Especially whatever is written on the engineer's tag. |
Title: Re: where i can find voodoo5 6000 Post by Obi-Wan_Kenobi on 10.05.05 at 00:24:16
well it's a Rev.A2 2600 Edmund with 5.5 ns ram, you should read TC -55 that tell yous you how fast your ram timings are ;) the Rev.A2 2600 has 166Mhz ram and cores, but because the ram timings are 5.5ns your ram bandwidth is 11.4GB per sec as max peak bandwidth, whil a Rev.A 3700 & Rev.A 3900 has normally 6ns ram and get a max peak ram bandwidth of 10.4 GB per sec the same peak bandwidth as a GeForce4 Ti4600 LOL ;D rather insane for a Voodoo5 card which is dated 3 years older :D

Title: Re: where i can find voodoo5 6000 Post by gdonovan on 10.05.05 at 00:28:57
My 3700 runs with ease at 183mhz ;-)
I had it up at that speed a few weeks ago, I was told it was tested at 191 mhz. Don't feel like pushing it at that speed, not like I can head down to Best Buy and pick up another if something goes pop. |
Title: Re: where i can find voodoo5 6000 Post by Obi-Wan_Kenobi on 10.05.05 at 00:35:31
sjooo 183 very nice, did you use V.Control while OC'ing it?
works well with my 5500 PCI Rev.A1 2900, maxed out at 191Mhz cores/mem :D But anyways, it's not worth OC'ing Voodoo5 boards, there isn't much a boost in speed in games while OC'ing. so I put my 5500 PCI back to it's stock speeds. |

is that the same 3700 that you sent me? said to run stable at 166Mhz? and u manage to make it run at 183Mhz? |
Title: Re: where i can find voodoo5 6000 Post by gdonovan on 10.05.05 at 13:42:52
I did not overclock the board you have so can't say what it will run, default is 166 mhz.
