guys,any chance someone has a working 3dfx exe for this old game around? the one that comes with the game is apparently a non-working stub (which makes it the first 3dfx patch that doesnt support 3dfx,and as nutty as it may sound,the readme confirms it).

I'm trying to get it running in hw glide mode (voodoo2) using the demo (prequel) 3dfx exe,but so far no luck (both the demo and the retail version lock up immediately after entering the game)..tried googling a bit but it looks like no patches were ever released for the full game,so I dont really know if there ever was a retail 3dfx exe in the first place..maybe someone will know

edit: voodoo1 works without locking up.not bad,but voodoo2 would be better..

did the game work on your voodoo2s? as I said,it runs on mine,but locks up,do you have something similar?

tinkering around,as always.my retail 3dfx exe just bails me out with "3dfx not supported,run software yes/no" message (and in the readme,there is a note "this version doesnt support 3dfx" as well),so I have figured that there are probably more versions of the game out there..we'll see if your file helps (checked mailbox,still nothing,hmmm)..

..thats the software version exe.the 3dfx hw exe should be named est3dfx.exe or something like that..

and it runs hw accelerated? wow,the version I have seems to be quite different..

weird indeed-this version is originally from US as well.hmmm..can you post your esoteria readme? wonder if its different as well (as I mentioned earlier,mine says "3dfx not supported blahblah"),thats probably the easiest way how to confirm that there are actually more versions out there..

anyway,I'm droping a link to the 3dfx demo,in case you want to try out you game on a voodoo2,maybe you'll get lucky and it wont lock up on you .just drop the 3dfx exe from the demo to your esoteria retail folder,make sure you have the voodoo2 drivers with the latest glide2x installed (latest 3dfx driver for win9x/koolsmokys xp driver for 2000/xp should work),launch it using the demo exe,start a new game,and if it wont lock up after 2 seconds,you have a victory.

wow,that was fast.

that black/white stuff happened to me as well.make sure you dont have any glide files in your esoteria folder,and make sure you have glide2x version 2.56 or newer in your system folder..it should work.

loading screen is different ,btw.
