Hi

have you tried looking here http://www.falconfly.de/voodoo3.htm for a driver and there should be a number like 210-0364-003 somewhere on the board to help identify it @ http://www.falconfly.de/identify-3dfx.htm

Where's the problem? It's a Voodoo 3 2000. Whether it is an AGP- or PCI-card or a card from a different manufacturer is secondary. All Voodoo 3-drivers work.

I usually go with the falconfly recomended driver, it should be highlighted. If your intending running it in a modern system you might want to make sure it doesn't get to hot as its only passivly cooled.

Hi there!
I need your help in recognising the card... It is Voodoo1 marked as Obsidian Pro, but i haven't seen such card on Donovan's site, on tdfx.de... So, anybody knows what it is?
Here is the photo:

That's an odd card...

The Quantum3D Obsidian SB50-2200 (which the layout is based on and the sticker on the card says 2200, too) is usually black (early prototypes were green, but production cards were black up until the Q3D Obsidian2) and the layout of the small resistors is the same as Gary's Obsidian Pro 100DB-4440 Prototype-set (notice the layout of the resistors on the backside in the upper middle section, it's identical to the 100DB-4440-card but different to exxe's 2200).
In addition to that, the PCB has a date code of 9917 (backside lower left corner) which is the time the Voodoo 3 came out so a Voodoo Graphics was outdated at that time.

The Skywell Magic3D Plus had the same layout (with the soldering points but without the connectors) but was clearly marked "Magic 3D Plus" and had 8 MB RAM instead of this card's 4 MB.

Hm... Seems like it was made by noname company and marked ObsidianPro just for fun, to use the wellknown brand :)
I'm not sure but Quantum3D cards were made in USA, weren't they? And my card was made in Taiwan.
But maybe someone have any other ideas, or had seen such card before?

okay

i think its a 3Dfx/ Quantum3D

Maybe... But there is no Quantum3D logo on it, and the PCB differs from other Obsidians. And all other Quantum3D cards were assebled in USA...
I'd found one strange Obsidian in Gary Donovan collection: choose Voodoo Graphics and then go to the bottom - the lowest card. It's another card but it is also named Obsidian.

yes its called Obsidian but with a additinal GE

your use the same layout that the 3dfx/ Q3D boards
it have the 3dfx logo like on older cards before Q3D was founded and it have a QC sticker like most Q3D V2 Cards

Layout=PCB?  :-?
If yes, then my card differs from Q3D:

Eye-Q had marked the differences.
My card is the same as Skywell:

PS: I'm not arguing, I'm just asking :)

He means the '3Dfx' logo itself.
And exxe; the logo changed with the merger of STB not when Q3D spun off ;)

i dont mean the 3dfx logo change

i mean the the card have the 3dfx logo and not the Q3D logo like the Obsidian 100SB

---

layout
both are 3dfx layout
both are for SLI cards on for a Master and one for a slave card i think

I think the thing exxe wants to point out is that the Quantum3D-cards had Quantum3D-logos, too, but I only once saw an SB50 (or 100DB) with Quantum3D-logos, and that is the 50-4400TV owned by Gary. That card has a completely different layout to the 50SB-22xx/24xx/42xx/44xx though.

Besides that, the logo is the oldstyle-logo, that's right, but in the 17th week of 1999 the use of the old logo could have been because they didn't want to make a new printing mask (the 3Dfx-logo is imprinted) for an outdated card which I suppose has been built in only small numbers at that time.

[edit]
I understood that correctly, I'm relieved. ;)

So my card seems to be Quantum3D Obsidian?
Well, for my small collection it's a very good addition.
Thank's to all who had helped me with identification. :)
