Title: Voodoo Rush problem
Post by Voodoomaster on 23.04.05 at 22:49:07
Hello to everyone. I have an A-Trend Voodoo Rush which doesn't work properly. As soon as the drivers are installed (tried different versions) in 2D there are terrible problems with picture quality. Some kind of black marks and lines. In 3D the card works some minutes without any problems of image quality but then the computer doesn't respond any more and the screen turns to black. The problem could be evoked by 2 x 2 twisted "contacts" of the 3dfx Chips (Two twisted on each chip). I got the card in this condition from ebay. I bended the contacts back carefully but maybe the card was already damaged as I got it (short circuit?). Fortunately I didn't pay too much. Please post possible solutions. Thanks to everyone

Post some images if possible - if what you say is what's actually causing the problem then it would be best if we can see it! :o

Don't get your hopes up though! :'(

Here are the pictures. Sorry for delay.
They are really big, but so you can see every detail.
The twisted contacts are marked with a red circle.
The part which is marked with a little yellow arrow also doesn't look very good.

Hm, difficult to say.

The Card is very old, so the bent contacts might indeed have caused the Chip to take some form of damage.

IMHO, the only thing you can do is to clean the mentioned Contacts as good as you can and try again. If that doesn't work, the Card is likely damaged beyond repair.
