eBay Bid History
11.11.06 at 06:16:06
Hmm... When did this happen?
As the internet evolves, eBay continues to strike a balance between preserving transparency and protecting our Community of members. eBay has decided to change how bid history information is displayed so bad guys cannot target bidders with fake offers using this information. In certain cases, some bidders will no longer be able to view Bidder User IDs on the Bid History page. Your User ID will be shown only to you and the seller of the item you're bidding on. Other members will see an anonymous name, such as Bidder 1, applied consistently to the Bid History page.

hmm that's a good one Gamma742, doesn't sound very reliable if ebay would be like this.
I think Bid history is a very important factor on how an ebay user is. good point but I agree some cases bid history can't be read if you not bidding on that item, I suppose it's a kind of prvacy shield or so?
But why they hide it like this from others, is still a bit vague

Hmm...nope!
I checked the auctions I'm monitoring in "My eBay"...
...all of their bid history still displays the 'real' eBay names of bidders.

I was bidding on an item and everything looked normal in the bid history. It changed after bidding ended. So if somebody snipes something away from you, you'll never know who did it
Check on the bid history of an item you were watching that has ended. Let me know if my post is inaccurate.

Well my personal opinion is that the other bidders should not be kept hidden in the results of biddings
every bidder's name should be visable to other's so then others can get idea's if that serious bids have been taken place and also the way people Bd on things every 20 USD or every 200EU all depends on how they bid.
I think its a good thing to see the other bidders from old as newer bid results.

True, true!
But I think it's an option that the seller can "enable" if he/she wants to...

Maybe that was the case here. This was the first time I'd seen anything like this.

We've seen enough fraudulent activities on ebay and paypal. I think the truth is that, people are always going to find a way to overcome security.. vice versa.
Policies can change, but no matter how you look at it.. People are still creating fake accounts to be a troll on ebay.
