At 201 Euros with  3.5 days left, it looks like it's a good time to be selling 3dfx products.   

Have you noticed that most of those peoples are searching (and paying high prices) only Voodoo4 and Voodoo5 ?

I think that they didn't get the REAL 3dfx glory, the best 3dfx cards were Voodoo1 and Voodoo2. Voodoo3 and the rest were ok, but they were simply not THE BEST, top of the top. Especially Voodoo5 - it was outperformed by GF2 Ultra. I don't get it, REAL collectors should look for rare cards and cards that made history, V5 was almost a failure

But hey, people hear : 3dfx cards - good for collection, so let's try to get the fastest 3dfx cards. True, they are the fastest, but not the greatest (during that time).

That is one of the reasons why I started collecting actually. (awesome box art, the faces are just cool as hell) Being kind of young and without a strong computer background I did not have any 3dfx cards growing up.  At one point I had a Voodoo2 in the system but by no means was I really into computers.  I then started collecting more of the cards and whatnot because I missed out on so much awesomeness.  I got my first computer when I was 16, and it came with a TNT2 Ultra. (my first videocard)  My friends dad had an old V2 laying around so I put that in but never really used glide. (only with UT)

@goriath - I will be going through all my 3dfx stuff in the future and getting rid of some.. so keep yer eyes open. (the count is 4x 4500 AGP, but only the one sealed)

I became very serious about PC Gaming around early 1998.  I opted to skip the Voodoo 1 and wait for the V2.  The first game I tried was Jane's Longbow 2.  OMG, it was like I died and went to heaven.  I immediately purchased a second card and went SLI (2x Creative labs 12 MB).  The V2 SLI combo was hands down the king for what seemed like forever.  I still have both cards and the boxes to this day and have no plans to sell out.

As far as collecting goes, I think there are different types (and shades) of collectors.  Some collect to put pretty shrink wrapped boxes on their bookcase, some collect to play and tinker with the cards, and there's also folks that fall in between.  I personally collect video cards (3dfx in particular) so I can actually experiment with them.  I love tinkering and tweaking to get games running faster or looking better.  This is hard to do that when the card is tucked inside a box with original strinkwrap on it.  So there's just no way in my mind that a sealed V5 5500 AGP is worth $400+ (especially considering how common the AGP version is).   But....that's just me.

I think if someone handed me an original sealed V5 5500 AGP box, I'd probably tear it open just to see how a new 5500 card smells.  I actually got the pleasure of doing that very thing with my Q3D X-24 that I snagged off ebay last year.  The jerk seller shipped it with no packaging, so the shipping label was taped to the shrinkwrap.  I was furious.  The box was roughed up, so I figured what's the point of not digging in.  I was stoked because I'd dreamed of getting an X-24 ever since it came out.
