Any fellow users regularly using their 6000 cards for vintage gaming?
Finally got around to building my v5 6000 rig after 2yrs of procrastinating. Basically just gathered up a bunch of old parts laying around for this: Intel mobo, P3-850, 256MB, Win98SE. This video card is schweeet! Just now starting to appreciate the raw power of this thing, as compared to 1998-2001 stuff back then.... about on par with a GF2 Ultra i'd say.
Loaded up Quake2, Q3, Need for Speed 2 SE, NFS3 so far. All the benchmark demos work, even on Q3 at 1600x1200 with FSAA x8 turned on---- only 7fps
Playing these games has brought back goood ole memories of my first LAN parties.. sniff, sniff. Amazing how fast 10yrs comes and goes.
Anyway, just wanted to reminisce a little here, and find out who among you have a working 6000 also. My card is a 3700 series with the brick power supply. Everything is in original shape with no modded internal power connectors, PCI rework, etc. I actually feel damn lucky now to have one of these things. Paid $700 for it on ebay couple years ago. Anyone have a rough idea what they fetch nowadays?
