Title: W98SE+PII-350MHz+V3-2K+V2SLI=?DRIVER?
Post by goriath on 08.07.05 at 01:41:43
Hi guys, help me to solve this equation, please :-[

I have a little pc equipped with:

PII 350MHz Slot1 (on ASUS P2B with latest beta bios)
3dfx Voodoo3 2000 AGP (latest bios)
3Dfx Voodoo2 SLI 12MB
192MB RAM

-OS: Win98SE

Well, what driver is the best for this config? Can i use MesaFX, or my CPU is not enough powerful? If i can't use MesaFX, what i can install, 3dfxminigl or wickedminigl? :-[

Thanks to all

If you add a couple of voodoo2 to a Voodoo3 then the Voodoo3 will be your 2D card.

Unless you reload the V3 drivers, then I think the V2's stop working.

In any case, IMHO it's not a good combo :-/

It is possible to do, but a very troublesome combination.

Basically you'd need to re-work both the Voodoo3 and the Voodoo2 Drivers and install them in the right sequence.

Glide will likely still get confused and will always see the Voodoo3 as the Primary adapter.
OpenGL has the "Adapterno." switch to select secondary Hardware, not sure if Glide ever implemented something like that.

Yes, i know the conflict problem, of course...

But i have seen someone that used this config, at least i think ???.......... ;D.....

Ok, what graphic subsystem is better to keep with the PII? The V2SLI or the V32K?

I'd recommend keeping the Voodoo3, mainly due to much more advanced Drivers and the bigger Texture Memory size.

Yes :). So my question now is: what driver is better for my config with the Voodoo3 under Win98SE?

My CPU is enough powerful in order to perform MesaFX? Or is better to intsall 3dfxMiniGL (or MiniGL from wicked)?

Thanks for support; I apologize for stupid question but my interests are moved on WinXP driver development rather than Win98, in the last years...

Depends entirely on the Games.

For older Games, I think the original MiniGL/OpenGL might do just fine, but it sure wouldn't hurt to try WickedGL and MesaFX as well.
