Title: [S] Voodoo4 4500 PCI
Post by LuxKiller65 on 21.09.05 at 09:14:50
I'm selling my Voodoo4 4500 PCI.
The card is in working order and in great shape.
I only have to say that I removed the stock heatsink and lapped the GPU because I wanted to put a better heatsink and fan on it. Unfortunately, those stupid holes near the GPU don't make any sense and no fan fits.
That's why I'm selling it.
Stock heatsink and fan are supplied, so you can put them back in no time.
Price? Don't know, not too much since I done on the card what I done and that wasn't the smartest thing I've ever done in my life...

;)

Hello Habbs!

Like FalconFly says, it is better to trade here, at least for the moment.

I repeat, the card itself is in perfect shape, but the GPU has no more anything written on it, since I used some sandpaper to lap it. By lapping the surface of the GPU, I got a perfectly flat surface, more suitable to now put a new heatsink and a fan over it (to optimize the heat transfer).

Should you want to put back the stock heatsink and fan (which I still have of course), you would just need to use some thermal paste or a thermal pad (I prefer) in the center of the GPU and put some very strong glue on the edges of the GPU (in very small quantity). The heat would then transfer better than before anyway, because of the lapped GPU and because what 3dfx used to glue the heatsink was crappy as hell and didn't help heat transfer at all.

If you need some pictures because you're not really sure how my card looks like, just let me know, we'll talk about the price later, if you're still interested.

;)

is that card still available?  ::)

Of course it is! It's just sitting on a shelf inside an antistatic bag, waiting for somebody to take care of it!

:P

Pictures maybe?

Thanks to www.imageshack.us for hosting these pictures!

That's what I'm selling. The GPU has been lapped for better heat transfer, it isn't broken nor is anything wrong with it. I repeat, I am selling this card because I can't find an adequate heatsink and fan to fit with the holes beside the GPU. The card and the fan work perfectly. Simply use some glue and thermal paste and you're done! Notice the PCI version is much rarer than the AGP variant (you all know this I know...).

Here are the thoughts I would use to make up a price:

1- I bought this card on eBay last year for 50€, which is a lot (probably more than what it's worth today).

2- I always keep in mind that the PCI version of this card always gets higher prices and must therefore be rarer than the AGP version.

3- With this being said, I could say 35€ + shipping (which is 6€) would be my price.

4- But since I was so stupid to remove the heatsink and the fan, my price will go down to 36€ with shipping included. But then again everything is working properly, so it's just a matter of putting everything back together.

:)

Wrong (my opinion), PCI versions can be used on modern-day systems, that's why they're worth more.

Correct, the PCI version is still in demand as it can be used in modern systems and it's not odd for people to have them installed for dual monitor & glide support.

Fine, but in the end it's the same: PCI ones are more expensive.

:P

at first you ask hou much Luxkiller65 wants for it , then you get pic then you say you don't need a PCI version while you did ask on how much he wants for a Voodoo4 4500 PCI ...gosh :-[

sorry but imho that is rather confusing and imbarresing for Lux also.

Well, it can sometimes happen that a potential buyer isn't interested anymore. But in such cases, letting the seller know would be great!

;D

I must say that like you say, I am confused. But what confuses me the most is that some new users have recently popped out and have only been posting in this particular part of the forum. Then, they seem to have disappeared.

:-/

I guess you all see what I mean. It might be some weird users trying to - let's say - buying and maybe selling just for fun, not ending any transaction. This is something that has to happen in a forum involving money and thus requiring to be serious, so we'll just have to keep our eyes wide open...

Anyway, I'm really ready to ship the card, so if somebody is interested...

:P

i am really sorry that it happens that  :(
I had really want this car to buy, but i was expecting lower price (about 20-25 euros with shipping). I didn't know how much may v4 costs so I asked. but it was too much for me so I wrote that i dont want it.
And, i don't speak english very good, you don't understand me.. I want to say that it doen't matter if that card is pci or agp - so i will try to find agp for lower price (and now i know that it is impossible...)

I am sorry for problems.  :-/
i will be more carrefull with posting next post, ok?

But that's okay, don't worry!

;)

I was just doing some thinking about this whole "marketplace" things. See, it's a new thing here on FalconFly!

Well, 30 Euro with shipping seems fair to me, prices on eBay can easily reach this sometimes for the same card!

:)

The Forum card has been sold and EBay Auctions do not belong here.

PS.
You don't by any chance have a buddy called "nemesis" over there in Australia ?

You may have been trying to reply to the thread that was locked. The Ebay Related Auction thread gets quite long from time to time and has to be locked and a new one started.

That would explain why you had difficulty ;)

It was the only one i could find in australia, theres hardly any v4s or v5s here, not sure why, at least these cards are new.  :)
