Title: HOT Voodoo TV! Post by janskjaer on 24.09.04 at 19:02:18
Anyone ever noticed how hot the TV tuner chipsets get when in use? I tested both my Voodoo TV sets and they both got extremely hot on the chrome-covered area. Yet they function prefectly fine! :-/ I left them running for over 5 hours and they would have melted my fingers if I'd have touched them! :o
Why do they get so hot, and how can they manage to work under such harsh temperatures? |

Actually, this seems to be a general problem with Voodoo cards - seems to be when they're in an Athlon MB (although I'm not sure if this is the ONLY factor). :P
My V3 1000 got ROASTING hot until I fan-modded the sucka'! :o Like you said - temperatures that could fry an egg! :o |

Yeah, but rather than basing it on a VGA chip from a 2D/3D card, I'm talking about the chrome unit on the TV tuner cards. To me, this feels hotter than any 3dfx chipset that's been running for a while! I just wondered as to why the TV tuner chips run so hot? I wouldn't think they would have to perform as much operations and processes as a VGA card would.
