Nice mouse dude! I got the same one for christmas from my girlfriend :) (note: images were reduced to 1/2 the original size)
While taking a picture of my mouse I figured I might as well get one of my keyboard. These pictures where taken with a 7.1 MegaPixel Fugifilm s700. An EXCELLENT camera for under $200, and you get a free 2GB sd card.. offer ends 2/29. ;) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16830122110 EDIT**: After looking into this it appears there is a model that is the exact same called the s5700. I believe it is the EU equivalent.. ISO goes up to 1600, 10x Optical zoom, 4.8x Digital, 2.5 LCD screen, image resolution of 3072 x 2304, Beautiful camera for the price, it cannot be beat. rotten |

It's a shame how some manufacturers threat their customers (same with ati). Cause I haven't enough space for a PCI soundcard besides the Crossfire pair I've chosen the PCI-E X-Fi one. I knew that this isn't really a proper X-Fi (depended on the Chipset which actually is kind of based on the Audigy2) but since the last automatically driver update, I'm not able to record from the "What you hear" source including Everything that's not played "from outside the computer" :'( |

Looks like an MSI NX8500GT - I can identify the writing "V096" on the top end of the card, and if you google for MSI V096 the NX8500 comes up.

n1996 = MSI ;)
its a GeForce 8600GS 256MB from a supermarket PC ( Medion MD8828) the white conector is for a SCART out edit i replace the card with a Radeon HD3870 |

Yes, the HEIDI (autodesk's program-specific render API, used in 3d studio max, designed to CAD works) is also supported on the card. And another strange thing: The driver does not provide the gl_arb_multitexture extension. So no multitexturing available under opengl, but the glview says: GL_ARB_multitexture was not found, but is available in driver version 06.05.06.18 and with a few extensions, the same situation. I installed the 06.05.06.18, but the result is the same - no extensions. I will try to install windows 2000, and try the drivers, i hope, it will resolve the problems of the card. |

Title: Re: hardware photo thread Post by Thandor on 17.05.08 at 00:07:44
Now I'm here... let's find some interesting hardware pictures:
Two Mendocino's and the slowest Deschutes (350MHz) CPU. I like the latter because it is the fastest Pentium II in the old S.E.C.C. packaging. Two Slot 1 Celeron 'Mendocino' CPU's and one Celeron 'Covington'. I liked the shot. The 'Covington' is interesting because it lacks L2 cache which means you have to wait about 5 minutes before the 'double-click' on 'My Computer' is processed ::). Shot of an Intel Pentium D 920 Engineering Sample. My first Engineering sample, built in end of 2005 when the 9## models weren't sold yet. The CPU is now eating it''s nose out most of the time in my server. Intel Celeron D 355 Engineering Sample. This is the fastest Celeron D 'Prescott' out there and since its an ES it is possible to simulate every Celeron D 'Prescott' out there by lowering the multiplier. Note- the slower Celeron D ES CPU's (except some A4 stepping which may overclock badly) don't allow to raise the multiplier above its default multiplier. By the way, this is the case for all the normal ES 'Netburst' CPU's. (Thumbnail) Now these are interesting in my opinion. I like both the quality of the picture and the cards themselves. These are the 'Build-by-nVidia' GeForce FX 5800 Ultra boards which were send out to previewers and such. As far as I know only 1000 of these nVidia-boards with the green-like blower exist. The left card is #30, the right card is number 25. Another picture of board #25 (along with VolariDUO V8 Ultra Retail and VolariV8 Sample) can be found here. (Thumbnail) This is a rather old picture already but it brings back some memories. Though this topic is not for 3dfx hardware, a 5500 is still visible (sorry! :P). The middle is an ATi Radeon X800 from Sapphire and the bottom is a part of an ASUS GeForce 6800LE AGP board (Which can be better seen here). The 6800LE was quite a good overclocker and by putting some ice cooling on the beast we (a friend of mine and me) got ourselves a nice score of 6033 with 3DMark05 which resulted in third place of the Futuremark ORB among the 6800LE boards. Unfortunatly the card died in an accident between my friends mom and a turned on PC - but not turned on waterpump. The card fried. (and yet it had lot's of potential to go higher, no voltmods were utilized nor the PC was tweaked much with software). |
Title: Re: hardware photo thread Post by exxe on 17.05.08 at 17:09:32

but the celeron w/o L2 cache is nice to overclock :fresse: |

Never heard of VREngine, just had a quick google, but they weren't made by Real3D, but by Realvision.
I'm talking about Real3D, the Lockheed Martin spin off. I thought you meant the VR Simulators that Lockheed Martin worked on. Hint, two of them start with R3D 8-) |

When Real3D went bust and was bought by Intel, Intel brought a container in the main hallway, and everyone was told to dispose of everything they worked on, cards, prototypes, documentation. The lot. One or two people secretly kept their cards, since they worked for over 2 years on it, it was such a sad end to the projects, they couldn't let them go. I got in touch with the Real3D crew that works at AMD (ATI) now, and the rest followed from that. :) Quite a story. |

Sometimes you get lucky.... :)
I contacted a guy about the Spectra 2500. He ended up having the two V2s also. I have always admired Canopus as a board manufacturer. Their card designs are unique and are optimized to the teeth. I have been searching for the Spectra off and on for about 10 years. I couldn't afford one back in '98. I really like the box front. NOTE: due to my novice picture taking taking skills, what seems to be gold is actually silver in colour. If anyone can recommend a website or general tips, I would really appreciate it. - I am using a Canon A620 PowerShot 7.1MP camera. |

I had similar luck a couple times with finding canopus cards: 1) Ebay BIN auction for a Pure 3dII for $20. The seller also had a Pure3DLX and two Monster 3d Voodoo 1 cards he sold me for $5 each. Cost me $40 for all four with shipping. 2) Ebay auction for Pure 3DII LX for $30 3) Ebay auction for Pure 3DII and 3DII LX that ended around ~$80 4) Ebay auction for Spectra 2500 that ended around ~$80 All of these were in the last year. The only reason I snagged the second 3DII pair was because I thought the fan always ran on the LX version. Turns out, Canopus had two different revs of the Pure 3DII PCB and one of them had the cooling fan setup to only run when the board was running in 3D! You can see the difference in the layout of the capacitors along the bottom edge next to the RAM. As a side note, I bought a Spectra 2500 new back in 98'. I only kept it for about 6 months because I thought it was slow as hell when compared to my Creative Voodoo 2 SLI setup. I ended up selling it on ebay for more than what I originally paid. I sure wish I had kept it considering I spent almost 9 months waiting for one to show up on ebay last year. |

Finally I've found the cards, via finding the old Real3D crew.
There is a whole story behind the cards, but to make it short, R3D/100 never came to the market with only engineering samples, and demo cards produced , initially it was aimed at the mid/high end range of PC/Workstation, but didn't catch on because it was a 3D only part, to fix that, work started on the Lightning/110, which included an iXMicro Twin Turbo 2D add on PCB. Oh and did you know the R3D/100 was initially going to have a 3rd chip on there? A complete T&L chip, due to the immense cost it was dropped. Unfortunately, drivers have been long lost, and no one knows where they are, so no testing, even if the boards would be fully functional (which they most likely are.) The reason why you have never seen these boards is because when Lockheed-Martin sold the remains of Real3D to Intel, they were told by Intel to dispose of every single piece of hardware, documentation etc. so it wouldn't fall into the wrong hands. A huge dumpster was brought in the main hall, and was filled with everything they had been working on for years. The Lightning was close to production at that point. Some took some out of the dumpster to remember how much effort and time they had spend on the projects. Apart from that, I've got a Cobra prototype which would have been released in 1999, not much known about it, I'm trying to get in contact with the engineer who worked on it. The project was cancelled, but I'm not sure if that was because of the nearing demise of Real3D or because the project didn't work out as planned. I received some Marketing Material as well (4 caps, 5 keyrings, and poster). Poster shows the Pro-1000 image generator, and some demo's/games that were programmed for the R3D/100. The second R3D/100 is missing two caps, repairs are scheduled for that board. Apart from that the second board has got a big scratch near the first chip, which seemingly has damaged a trace or two quite badly. Enjoy!! Anyways he even wanted me to have the official Blue Print of his masterpiece which Texas Instruments passed for production withing then next year ahead aka 1977, I told him to keep the Blue print for himself since I didn't want him to give his idea's away an advice from me and he did agree as liked it when I told him that heh. oh well here's another cool pic, something else this time :) Creative Labs AWE64 Gold! Title: Re: hardware photo thread Post by Gold Leader on 10.03.09 at 16:12:30
219 Euro's isn't that expensive for such a rare card, that's the one you bought from SK1 from VA :D
it's from year 2003 week 46 :) It's very rare because not many were produced, the same went for other cards like the FX 5800 Ultra and the Creative AWE64D for example :) The 5500 AGP wasn't very successful either, but look how many thrive aroudn there, plenty even that it is 2009 8-) Anyways here's something cool from my VGA collection :) the rare ASUS AX800XT AGP + AViVo their ATi radeon X800 XT Platinum Edition, it has the sweet Salmon Orange PCB: and yes it works fine :) And here a hard to find Ati Radeon 9800 Pro AGP 256MB 256Bit DDR II Thax to Rottentreats, it was a gift from him :) 8-) |
Title: Re: hardware photo thread Post by Tim on 10.03.09 at 16:30:34 Like I said, it's rare because it wasn't very successful, hence less boards were sold/made. Yea it's the one from SK1, the date on the sticker is the date the card was announced, not the board date. :) With normal bidding it wouldn't have gone up to EUR219, that's for sure, it's expensive all right. |

Title: Re: hardware photo thread Post by Gold Leader on 10.03.09 at 16:37:10
it would of gone pass that easilly :) I know many peopel that were seeking that card alot of them from other hardware boards :) If I knew about it I would of gone for it as well, well that is if it were on ebay aka fleebay :D
here's something old compared with something new: I don't have that big card anymore which is an ATi radeon HD 2900 XTX Rev.A1 0704 Prototype, I had sell it to a good friend from VA, since he was looking for one and I needed the extra cash to purchase the 5000 PCI :) Sometimes you have to sell things to achieve things, even that hard choices have to be made. |
Title: Re: hardware photo thread Post by Tim on 10.03.09 at 16:53:55 Well it was on eBay.de, with those Germans you never know how high things will go! :D Nice ATI VGA's, that X2900 is nice as well. btw. I wouldn't call it a prototype, more a OEM sample board, the hardware was pretty much final, and that board could be found with quite a few people/sites for evaluation, that wouldn't have happened if it was a prototype. I seem to remember at one point it was even listed in one web shop. I can't 100% remember any more, it's been a while. |
Title: Re: hardware photo thread Post by Gold Leader on 10.03.09 at 17:16:27 Tim wrote on 10.03.09 at 16:53:55:
Well it is a prototype as Sir R. Larose told me he even worked for the R600 partually, these were the final pre-production prototypes, the card was never produced as an OEM ;) R. Larose worked on R300, R350, 360, R420 and for his last 4 weeks he worked for ATi on the R600. He still has contacts with his collegues and when I showed him that card, he showed it to his contacts and even they told him as he told me it is the prrototype iof the HD 2900XTX that never reached the market, heck the card doesn not even have a nametag on it just a parts number and a series number, here a pic compared with my HD 2900 XT bottom and HD 2900 XTX Prototype top :) and also what's cool he told me when ATi was working on Fudo aka R420 they had a team working on R600 by that time and we are speaking Q2 2004 here, this gives us an example on how long ATi was working on the R600 design, no wonder why it was such a complicated thing as it did turn out that the official product was released 8 months later to the market. |
Title: Re: hardware photo thread Post by Tim on 10.03.09 at 17:29:20 I didn't say it was produced as an OEM. I'm just saying that preproduction doesn't necessarily warrant the tag prototype. I've got plenty of reference samples, but would a true prototype have all the certification labels on it and all the other tags? Even in the industry people interchange prototype and sample/preproduction names. Prototypes wouldn't necessarily leave the labs, and would be very early Alpha hardware. These samples were almost final evaluation samples. In my book that doesn't classify it as a prototype, as would many other insiders say. |
Title: Re: hardware photo thread Post by Gold Leader on 10.03.09 at 17:44:22
probably but if an Ex-Ati Engineer does say so as his collegues that still work there do then it's clear enough ;)
3dfx prototypes have barcodes as well and not eevry prototype has the Not For Resale stickers, name tags as even bios stickers so even with or without them details it's a prototype since I rather believe an ex-Ati engineer than that from some collector from a forum ;) but still it's in good hands now, that's the most of all importance I have had well over 500 different VGA cards Proto's as evaluation boards as normal ones and not to worry I know what's aproto or not when is ee one and this HD 2900 XTX is one of them fewer ones out there, it's just the last revision they made for a product that never reached the market. Bull @ Voodooalert has one as iels does a mate of mine who lives about 6 KM from here. the one Bull has is older though, it has Dual fan connectors hehe and it's from week 46 year 2006, this one does have some differences as driver support goesm, it's even believed that these HD 2900 XTX Rev.A1 boards were flashed with a HD 2900XT 1GB GDDR4 Bios and put for OEM sale, since if you remember well 3dfx did the samewith them 3dfx Voodoo4-2 4200 PCI Daytona's for IBM ;) these were prototypes flashed as modded for OEM usage, and the same happened with a few HD 2900XTX boards. |

Title: Re: hardware photo thread Post by Tim on 10.03.09 at 17:51:35 Let's just call it a preproduction prototype and be done with it lol. :) It was a very interesting card, shame you don't have it anymore. :-/ |
Title: Re: hardware photo thread Post by Gold Leader on 10.03.09 at 17:54:43
yeah well it's okay mate, it had to go since I was seeking the Voodoo5 5000 PCI for about 5 years and even at that point that you get a chance for a 5000 PCI but missing about 300 euro's somethings have to go, so I sold it for 325 incl shipping to germany which is a good deal to Tweakstone a mate of mine from Voodooalert.de he was seeking one so I sold it to him.
the 5000 PCI was like 1000 euro's and that was painful I ahd to out bid someone but that succeeded none the less. If you do seek a HD 2900 XTX , I bought it from a guy off ebay named Re-Tek Computers or something like that, from ebay USA he is. |
Title: Re: hardware photo thread Post by Tim on 10.03.09 at 17:54:56 At least you replaced it with something which is at the very least as valuable as that card (more valuable I would say hehe) Sometimes you've got to make sacrifices yea. :) I'm glad it's again in good hands with Tweakstone! :) |

Yes exactly I did keep a hercules radeon 9700 pro prototype though with this sweet blue green PCB and a total different layout of the chips as compared to the production variant, as it has no heatsink under it's VPU, it has just one white sticker showing a name tag, with part number and 128 wirtten by hand with a red marker from the Engineer, for the rest no barcodes what so ever. Top: Hercules 3D Prophet 9700 Pro AGP 128MB DDR Rev.A02 0234 Pre-Protoype Bottom: Hercules 3D Prophet 9700 Pro AGP 128MB DDR Rev.A02 0251 As you can see the FALCO coils are different as well. here a better look of the card it's self :) I still have this card btw :) |

Must of been VA hehe, Though I am not sure it's a Pre-Production Prototype but since it had many hardwarematice differences like them FALCO's the layour of it's SMD's capacitors the VRM heatsink as no heatsink on the rear side of the VPU this did confuse me for a Pre-Production prototype or an early Evaluation board hehe
Ah just got me this one today :) ATi R680 Non-Qualification Sample aka Evaluation Board. http://cgi.ebay.nl/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=230330549793 You can tell it's the Non-Qualification Sample because of the original Ruby Sticker and the part numbers on the Fan and the side of the cooler's windtunnel. I will make more pics of this beauty once she has arrived :) It's the same card from this Preview ;) http://www.anandtech.com/showdoc.aspx?i=3209 A Non-Qualification Sample which is the card sent to Previewers and reviewers before the card hit's the market, these cards are also known as Evaluation Boards. |

Incredible, I wonder how many sealed or just normal boxed units there are still in existence, the card was an utter utter failure, and very expensive as well. It's more rare then a 3DO Blaster. I know I've got many rare videocards, but this just made the icing on the cake that more delicious. :D I will take pictures when I get it next week, it's being shipped insured and fast too. Title: Re: hardware photo thread Post by Tim on 24.04.09 at 02:07:23 rottentreats wrote on 24.04.09 at 01:59:55:
Yes it was. I can only explain it through an illustration. Some people are happy to see a racecar in a museum, whilst one could say it's true place is on the track and seeing and hearing it scream by, rather then having it collect dust. Same with this, it should be documented, tested, for people to see, and enjoyed of course. If it was documented somewhere else, I might have considered leaving it sealed. Boxed cards like yours, well you know what's in it because of others, and you can have a spare card to play around with, so it's more logical to leave a box sealed. Not so with this one I'm afraid. :) |
Title: Re: hardware photo thread Post by rottentreats on 24.04.09 at 02:16:04

Title: Re: hardware photo thread Post by RaVeNsClaw on 25.04.09 at 14:08:19
Most people probably never seen this card retail and there aren't any pictures anywhere else.
So, seeing all the things in this box is much more interesting for your site visitors, than a sealed box. It would be very interesting, if you could mace some videos of running games on this Card! ;D Especially Flight Unlimited had very good textures for it's time... That would be something absolute exclusive on your site, like the videos to your pyramid 3D. ;) |

That's not odd, that's common, just think of the Voodoo3. Lot's of different cards with the same chip.
I'm actually not too surprised about a dual interface card. If I remember correctly, there is a card with AGP and PCIe interface too. |

Yes, 168 pins, 5 V.
It's funny how memory modules evolved in length : FPM 30 pin, EDO 72 pin, SDRAM 168 pin. But DDR,DDR2 and DDR3 were the same length as SDRAM, if the size of those modules would be larger and larger, now we'd have DDR3 with the size of a videocard. And offtopic : a big crappity smack YOU imageshack.us , just tried to upload the above photo (200kb) about 10 times, it hangs when it's uploaded. You retards at imageshack.us, how about get a real server or fix your bugs there. Sorry, but just can't hold myself, there are a lot of idiots who can't do their jobs properly, damnit, if you can't handle a website, go harvest rice in China or grow corn in a field in Texas, whatever you like more >:( |
Title: Re: hardware photo thread Post by exxe on 23.08.09 at 16:58:28
DDR2 have smaler contacts
the 168 are DIMM so contacts on both sides the 30 and 72 SIMM on both sides the same contact |

You should find, if ever made, some red memory modules! :) I haven't replied in this topic for a long time so here are some interesting pics: Intel Xeon 'Irwindale' engineering samle. It's probably an early sample without markings and made on 90nm process with 2MB L2-cache. CPU-z (and the CPUID string in the CPU) indicate an Intel Xeon for socket mPGA604 but this is an LGA775 CPU. It runs hot at 3733MHz (which is default), somewhat unstable and is compatible with very few motherboards. Just a normal Athlon64 3500+ for S939 but I like the shot with the stickers. 2400MHz AMD Opteron engineering sample (Opteron 2216) which is made almost a year before the actual introduction date. I have two of these (but then 2.6GHz 2218's) running in my server which is going great! I like the bottom because it's completely flat. CPU's like LGA771/5 and LGA1156/1366 always have SMD chips on the back. An old top-CPU! Doesn't clock well, though but for the 44th week of 2003 it's not so bad. Normal Opteron but I like the way how the logo is combined with the CPU. It's brother. Normal Athlon XP 2400+. I bought this CPU to replace my 1700+. It did 2.7GHz using watercooling! The 1700+ I mentioned before. It never ran at it's default clockspeed and is always been overclocked. I had it running for years despite the CPU is retired it's still indestructible and going strong! Mobile Athlon 4 with Palomino core. Most normal CPU's with Palomino core (Athlon XP that is) have organic packaging instead of ceramic. The square shaped core looks cool :). Not exactly hardware but the booklet of a Pentium III Xeon 667. And to end a classic AMD Athlon 500: |

Title: Re: hardware photo thread Post by Tim on 07.10.09 at 23:52:24 Man, can't believe it's that long ago that I posted some new pictures of hardware. Got married in June, and have done nothing but working very hard to pay the bills. And because I run my own business, I'm responsible for everything. Found some time to take some pics of some hardware. Oh yea, couldn't take my collection to my new home (too small), so have to keep it at my parents place, making it even harder to mess about with my cards. Anyway, here goes : The two Savage4 Xtreme's, and the Savage3D are all Cherry picked samples by Engineers to make a good impression at a certain trade show. Apart from that, they are all retail. Note the Diamond Edge 3D 3240, had been looking for that card for over 2 years, finally found it, with all the CD's, gamepad, gameport, all for Ł0.99, nobody bid on it. Easily worth Ł80. :) |

Thanks! What's interesting is, that it seems to have been marketed under the Imagination brand (Videologic renamed), as Pixelperfect. I don't know of any other Neon250 with this sticker. I might have to ask somebody that worked at Videologic. I will give him a PM to ask what the deal is. I wonder what the Bios will say on the card. It looks like the Bios sticker has been altered. |

Hi Tim, I don't have all the details about it but what i know the card is from the same generation of Videologic Graphics accelerators as PCX1. It was more expensive, scalable having separate ISP, TSP that were used in arcade machines and PCs . "PowerVR has been adopted as the advanced 3D graphics accelerator by some of the world's leading PC suppliers, including Compaq Computers, the largest PC manufacturer worldwide, with the Presario 8000 range" "NEC's ISP and TSP for arcade systems are fully scalable. Designers can boost systems performance using multiple ISP chips, multiple CPUs and/or higher performance CPUs. The TSP and ISP are packaged in plastic 352-pin perimeter ball grid array BGA redirects here NEC's single-chip PCX1 is slated for sampling in Q2 `96 and volume in Q3 `96.The devices are packaged in 208-pin, plastic quad flat packs (PQFPs). " Here are some links explaining things in more detail: http://www.prnewswire.co.uk/cgi/news/release?id=11170 http://www.thefreelibrary.com/NEC+Electronics+Inc.+debuts+3D+graphics+processor+family+based+on+NEC+...-a018030570 http://www.faqs.org/faqs/comp.answers/pc-hardware-faq/3dgraphics-cards/part1/ http://stason.org/TULARC/pc/3d-graphics-cards-faq/CS11_VideoLogic_PowerVR.html |

Thank you Tim.
I was also intrigued about the card when I found it in an old computer warehouse. The only other photo of it was on www.yfjy.com and few details about the specs that were in the links in my previous post. It's very handy that you know someone from Videologic as it clears up that being produced in limited numbers the CPQ part numbers don't turn up much details nor any other labels on it. From what I gather they didn't get to use this chip set into arcade machines but if they made a few prototypes does the person at Videologic know of any examples; perhaps with more than 1xISP,1xTSP? Cheers, G1nX |

Well, if you think about it, most cards are only an email away. You just need to find the card, find the person who owns it, and find his or her email address. Sounds simple, but it isn't!! lol Edit: And you need to talk the talk, very important. "Here is Ł100, give me the card" does NOT work. You need to be 100% genuine in what you say. |

Title: Re: hardware photo thread Post by ultima on 09.03.10 at 09:55:12
I would be able to, just cause of the fact that the second you open it, it drops to 25% of it's sealed value.
But I'd never buy one in the 1st place, I want the cards so I can use em. |

Quite a few Pyramid3D's were made, probably about 200 or so, I can't fully remember. Most were send to software developers, such as game studios. When Tritech closed their doors, most boards got lost. I think there are a few left at the Bitboys Oy office. That reminds me, I need to ask Mika (founder) if there still are some metal briefcases that the P3D's came in. You were probably thinking about the Avalance3D. Only about 5 were made. Mine is the only one outside of the company apparently. I haven't edited the picture yet, but here it is : http://www.abload.de/img/2002_09_bitboys_oy_axeg8wy.jpg |

Title: Re: hardware photo thread Post by Maf on 04.04.10 at 21:18:12
I used warm water with PUR dishwashing balsam and a mild rectangular painting brush (similar to these: http://img20.allegroimg.pl/photos/oryginal/963/19/55/963195533). After cleaning with regular water using shower, I simply spilled on it from top about 2.5 L of deionized water used for ironing, then pre-dryed with towel and then 10 mins with hair dryer. And then it was laying loose for about 7 days, so I assumed it is ready for action ;)
But, the only issue is that when I switch it off during POST or completly cut-off PSU, it looses it's JumerFree cpu settings - in other words, it thinks, that there's a new cpu put in and asks me for proper settings. Can you help with thisi? I didn't test this mobo before cleaning, so I can't tell if this is my fault ;) |
Title: Re: hardware photo thread Post by oldskool on 04.04.10 at 23:07:33
Is the battery ok ? Water can linger under chips for a long time, most of the stuff on youtube they blow dry with a heatgun or sit it in the oven.Maybe you could dry it off in your new v6k cabinet rottentreats.
There was a shop locally that used to "wash" motherboards and sell them as new until they got sent to jail. |

Funnily enough, I usually get things from the right people, or new people that I 'meet', like you said. But this one just popped up on eBay! Nobody really bid on it, so I got this one at a ridiculously low price. He said he got it from his friend, I've asked the details about it, he still needs to get back to me. It seems like a bring up board. Board doesn't have any outputs, so they must have been talking to it directly. Very interesting heatsink-ish device on the top. Maybe it was the first batch of A2 chips that came back from TMSC. We will see soon, shouldn't take too long in the post. (I'm actually still running my 8800 GTX at the moment, so it will be nice to have them side by side) |

This lot is from a well known ex reviewer, he saw my site, and he told me he had been waiting for something like this to come along so he could donate his collection. ps. This is only part 1. Have fun deciphering which cards they are. I think I can name about 80% of them, the rest I'm not too sure about. Plenty of Engineering/Review/Pre-production/Reference samples in there, together with a few really, really rare ones, like the S3 Deltachrome boards as seen here : http://hothardware.com/Articles/S3s-DeltaChrome/ |

Do you leave the room lights on when you shoot your pictures? The connectors seem to reflect a different lightsource. http://www.abload.de/img/1995_05_sgs-thomson_stoj8j.jpg ^ That's with a lightent, no yellowish hue on some of the components. I've updated my whole site with higher quality pictures of the cards :
http://www.tga3dx.com/Golden-Era.html Also a few other cards have been added, listed in the updates : http://www.tga3dx.com/Updates.html To come are hopefully pictures of the boxes and accessories. It won't take as much time as this though. It nearly drove me insane. Taking the pictures was only a small part of it all. Editing, filling in the background on all pictures was most time consuming, about 365 pics or so. ps. The reason I've not made the watermark part of the cards is that I did not want to change the view of the cards in any way. It's easy to remove the watermark, but I don't think many people will bother with them anyway. It's more to show where the image came from originally if it's posted in forums etc. |

I wonder how many people have been looking for this card as well. The Oxygen VX1 is easy to find, even boxed, but the Create! is like it was never sold much at all. |
Title: Re: hardware photo thread Post by NitroX infinity on 04.08.11 at 13:43:47
What's the difference between the two?
|
Title: Re: hardware photo thread Post by Tim on 04.08.11 at 17:15:18
Not much : The Oxygen VX1 uses the GLINT R3 chip, which is basically the workstation version of Permedia 3. The two chips are almost identical. They have exactly the same functionality and performance in games (multi-texturing, bump mapping, etc). The 2D is also the same. The only differences are in Softimage, and with multi-cpu machines.

I have here a card that was never released in this form.
QuadroFX3000 P170 NV35GL with corresponding FlowFX cooler and original e-tag: The card was functional but a few components were broken or missing so I had to fix that. Here's the result: Enjoy, G1nX LE: I've changed image hosting website on account of tasteless banner content. |
Title: Re: hardware photo thread Post by ultima on 23.03.12 at 22:03:28
nice pic....something tells me that Quadro is based on the Geforce FX5950. :)
I used to have one that is almost identical, including the cooler, except it was green and retail :) |

The Geforce FX5950U used the GPU code named NV38. The FX5900U used the NV35. The FlowFX cooler was first introduced with Geforce FX5800U but because of all the bad press it did make it to market for the FX5900U as above pictures show. They switched to a more conventional cooling solution less noisy. @Tim you're absolutely right. The banners a grotesque and I haven't noticed them until you mentioned because I've grown to ignore banners on various sites except the ones that pop-up in front and center like on abload.de Imageshack.us also bothers me as wants registration now to share the links. @all what image upload site you guys use and recommend that's free and banner-less or at least with decent content. |

I think so too. I find that each pre-production boards tells a story and what role it played in the evolution of a generation of cards. As a parallel of the cooling solution here's a NV30 prototype board. This was the common ancestor to the Geforce FX5800U and Quadro FX2000. @Tim I'm sorry about the awkward moment with your family that my poor choice in upload site has cause you. Imageshack bugs me so I found postimage.org that seems to be free of banners of all sorts. |

Title: Re: hardware photo thread Post by Loeschzwerg on 03.05.12 at 08:11:15
Probably some kind of Revision identification, serial number and so on. Something that directly identifies the card and can lead to the person who gave the card away and nvidia doesn't like seeing prototypes in the hands of the pucblic. I think that's why gwb killed this information.
But two very interesting boards indeed :) @gwb: Please give us more information if possible :) |
Title: Re: hardware photo thread Post by gwb on 03.05.12 at 20:13:55
Hi all, I would like to keep possibly sensitive information kept secret until the cards become older for the time being.
Anyway, yesterday I installed the G92 card into a system and installed WinXP. I could not get any information to show up in GPU-Z. I then downloaded the newest 9 series WinXP drivers from nVidia's site but the installer stated that it found no applicable drivers. I am fairly certain it is a 9 series card because of the BIOS version (62.92.05.xxx), so I am assuming the DIP switches need to be set a certain setting or I need to flash the BIOS to a newer version |

ATi had much troubles with the R600, like 3dfx with the Voodoo 5 6000. So they had to put a lot of blood, sweat and tears into it and that's what I like about such cards. |

Well I only recently received the card and had not time to search for the specs of the GeForce 4 GPUs to be sure what would work from pin-out and voltage perspective. In any case it would be too complicated to unsolder and re-ball a GPU since I don't experience in this task. The simplest method is to buy the right chip from a reliable source and I found such a thing here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Nvidia-GeForce-4200Go-Chipset-IC-/260937496360?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3cc1163728 I would prefer a brand new GPU but the one above might work as well. @gwb I'd really appreciate it if you could upload the specs you have on the Geforce4 Bga's once you find them. |

Got a new toy, a S3 Graphics Evaluation Board :) It features an Alphachrome chipset which is the mobile version of a Savage XP (Codename Zoetrope).
-> Front and back of the card -> PCB manufacturing date 2002 week 37. The board does have 128MB DDR memory. -> Lots of jumpers and pins for measuring. -> Alphachrome 2002 week 30. The chip has noted 183, OK and 6. I think it means 183th chip of a batch, tested OK. It's the 6th evaluation board of that type. -> On the back it features two connections for notebook displays. |

Yeah, e-tags are something really special (hope I'll get one some day).
Also this week I've got nVidia GeForce 4 440 Go Testing Board (even two cards): |

ELSA GLoria L-88 Compaq (3DLabs GLint 500TX + GLint Delta + S3 ViRGE):
A pair of Sun Creator 3D: I've got these cards with Sun Ultra 10 and Sun Ultra 30 workstations. |
Title: Re: hardware photo thread Post by Slaventus on 19.03.13 at 09:05:28
I've got the largest card I've ever seen: NeTpower UltraFX. It has dual 3DLabs GLiNT 500TX + GLiNT Delta Geometry processor and probably 28 MB RAM (expandable to 60 MB).
Unfortunately, it is not working (some SMD components missing), hope I'll repair it. Can't find drivers also :) |

Some more pro cards
Dynamic Pictures Oxygen 202 OpenGL support claimed. I've tried to play Quake on it - some textures are missing, just black and white faces. FPS is acceptable but not very fast. E&S Tornado 3000 (REAL image 3000) Quake runs flawlessly :) I know these are pro cards so I must use some benchmarks like Specviewperf or CAD applications, but running games on them is really fun ::) |
Title: Re: hardware photo thread Post by Slaventus on 27.03.13 at 06:30:56
One more monster card:
NEC TE4E It seems that this card is RealVision VRengine TE-1 since it has GA-400 geometry accelerator and NEC PEC renderer (links: VRengine info, NEC TE4 presentation). Claimed to be fastest card in 1999. |

The other cards are also very very nice, especially the MXM adapter card :) |

Wow, excellent cards :D
Slaventus, would you mind to post some benchmarks of the E&S 3000 running GLQuake timedemo demo1? and maybe some pictures too? ;) Tim, may I also make you a question? Is the Tasmania3D as rare as a Gaming Glint 3D Blaster VLB? How much do they usually go for? I would like to buy one so that Vetz (a.k.a RetroCompaqGuy) could continue his awesome Early 3D Acceleration Series videos on youtube. |
Title: Re: hardware photo thread Post by paulpsomiadis on 02.05.13 at 21:43:44
@Slaventus can you ask your friend if he can do some benchmarks of the Larabee and game screens too?
Like maybe... 3DMark (whichever runs) maybe some of the newer ones too... Games ===== Q3A Some Unreal Engine Games Any Bioshock game ...just suggestions ;) |
Title: Re: hardware photo thread Post by Slaventus on 03.05.13 at 14:31:04
Loeschzwerg, paulpsomiadis - I've asked my friend, he will find out these as soon as possible. The card is at his work.
subhumangarbage - ok, I'll make some tests soon. |
Title: Re: hardware photo thread Post by Loeschzwerg on 03.05.13 at 18:35:05
Thanks :) Can't wait to see how it performs. I don't think it will that well... Intel surely knows why Larrabee didn't find it's way to the market.

It all depends on the condition of the VLB, but because they are so rare it's really luck of the draw when it comes to pricing. As far as the Tasmania3D, I only knew of my own card, and I got that one of a reviewer. |

Tim, sorry if the way I wrote the previous message was confusing, but I was asking you if the Tasmania was actually more rare than the Gaming Glint, because maybe there is still some chance to get it somewhere :) @Slaventus, thanks mate. I have always wondered how these cards performed in games. |

Title: Re: hardware photo thread Post by Slaventus on 15.01.14 at 16:54:12
ATI hasn't made its dual X1950Pro reference card, so this was fully developed by Sapphire. Height is about 13.8cm at the edge of the board. The card is fully working unit, though there may be some problems with drivers, also you need compatible mobo.

@All very nice prototype cards you've got.
Here's rare sample I found recently: Even if it did I don't have the right drivers to test it. Enjoy, G1nX L.E. I got the card to work using an Intel R440FX UP server mainboard but I'm still missing the drivers for it. |

Thanks. That's the issue I'm working on solving so I can recreate some of the tests they performed internally when it was in development. Quadro FX 5800 engineering sample
PCB: Week 21 2008 GPU: Rev B1 Week 20 2008 Final Quadro FX 5800 cards had a GT200 rev B2 equipped. First production date around week 35 2008. Revision B means 55nm, all GT200 with revision A GPUs were 60nm. The FX 5800 does have massive 4GB GDDR3 memory on a 512bit interface. The GT200 does natively not support DisplayPort, so Nvidia used an additional chip from Analogix to get a DP ouput. |

Very nice man....very nice indeed.
Just to be clear...a NQS means it did not pass internal testing, or it didn't get the tests at all and is used for something else, like showcasing to the public or something? |
Title: Re: hardware photo thread Post by Loeschzwerg on 27.07.15 at 08:04:17
Thanks :)
Yes, NQS usually means that not all components of the card have been fully tested and it mustn't be used for quality assurance testing. Every company defines their processes a little bit different... but what I can tell you from my point of view (as a software engineer), the engineering team is doing pretesting before the product is given to the QA team. So NQS is somewhere between ES and QA sample. Regarding the card... the FireGL V3250 wasn't sold in retail, but was used from OEM vendors (DELL, HP, Fujitsu). |

But very cool card...I really like the white pcb...wish they'd make more like tbose |
Title: Re: hardware photo thread Post by VooDooMan on 28.07.16 at 09:44:01
Yes it is true, if you count the numer of Voodoos 5 6000 and compare them with Xabres 600 then you will see there is more 3Dfx cards, but the price of those cards cannot be compared. Voodoo 5 6000 is more desired (for obvious reasons...) and would cost more than 2000 euroes? (I do not know what the current price is...) while SiS Xabre 600 is less interesting and won't go for more than 200 euros I think. What do you think?
I have more of those white cards :D |
