Great to see you here, aquoes!  :)  That's good news on the driver (especially the V5 6K :o).

FalconFly'll be back in a day or two when I'm sure he'll be in touch.

well we do have the full source code. and we left 9x untouched because we thought lets fix what sucks. aka 2k and xp drivers. dont worry also opengl is being worked on. its no longer going to need glide3x to work. so yall should be happy.

Hi,

first of all what is this ? A little bad joke ? Are you really Aquoess from 3dhq ?

If you are Aquoess i have to tell you something. Half a year ago i had the hope that your project would move something in the 3dfx community.
There were many promises. None of them were realized. I and i think many others were and still are very disappointed about the situation which you and the other guys from 3dhq created.
I dont know what you are doing behind the scenes. I know that coding is a very hard issue which is not done in a few weeks. So if you make promises in future please become more realistic.
I can not hear anymore this "soon" "in a few days" and so on stuff. I think you know what i mean.

I have also talked with FalconFly about the whole situation. What he is thinking about it ? Well ask him ! Perhaps he will answer you.

Neutross

P.S. This is not the start of a flamewar. I just wrote down what many 3dfx users think. Keep that in your mind.

Okay, since I just returned and read this posting, let me give some Points :

I received (more or less synchroneously) an EMail, so I do think this is the one and only Aquoess...

About the Happenings around 3dfx Underground / 3dHQ some 6 month ago, I prefer to leave that uncommented.

But anyway, if there's something under development, it's still better than nothing at all, even if it takes time...

The fact, that most, if not all modern Games will (or would) run at least on a Voodoo5 (after enhancing the Driver where applicable), gives the 3dfx fleet more time than expected...

...and hence it allows more time to finish projects like this, and they still can prove to be very useful.

Honestly, I thought UT2003 was going to be the 3dfx Killer.
But luckily, they decided to support 3dfx over at Epic last minute, although the Demo is presently still in need of some Bugfixes...

So whatever Aquoess is doing, I'll try to support it to my best abilities :)

Greetings
FalconFly

Once I'm able to make some hands-on testing, I'll keep you guys updated (as far as Aquoess will permit, of course)...

Are the drivers for Win9X too (I hope so..)? Or only for XP?

As far as I can tell, (until now) only Win2k/XP are supported.
---------------------------
I did receive the beta package, and will probably start testing over the weekend.

I'll test it on Win2000 Service Pack 2, running off a Dual AthlonXP 1700+ system and a Voodoo5 AGP.

I also have to reconfigure this machine before I can test, because it's presently one of the dedicated workhorses of my Cluster; currently still has a Matrox G100, no Sound, and only Science Software installed.

(work keeps me just too busy and tired otherwise during the week :P )

Newer Games I don't have too many, I'll look at Unreal Tournament, UT2003 , as well as the usual load of Direct3D Benchmarks.

If there are any requests to test other Game Demos, feel free to give me a heads-up in advance, so I can download those in time...

K... I really hope they'll do drivers for Win9X too... I mean, at least 70% of 3dfx cards owner have win9X... XP is new and unless you jsut bought a new computer, most people don't have it... And 2000 is used more at work than at home...

But 9X sux too :P I can't even play GTA 3 lol :)

Let's hope they'll fix em  soon after XP and 2k!

Ack!

I just had to "emergency evacuate" my Voodoo5 from the Win2k Beta Driver test machine :o

Reason :
As I just found out, 3.3V AGP Cards can destroy the Motherboard according to the Manufacturer's Website (ASUS A7M-266D Dual) :-X

Since I do not want it to share the same fate as quite a few Pentium4-Motherboards, no other choice possible :P

Looks like I was just lucky that it worked out without problems, after all the System was up 24/7 over the last 2 weeks with the Voodoo5 AGP installed (!)
